Bumping... because I found your bag's brown twin at the thrift store today! May I ask what you did to get the stains out? Any bleeding from the leather to the lining? Thanks for any tips!

I have two of these. A British tan one that didn't bleed at all when wet. & The purple one did leach some purple into the water. The only purple that I couldn't remove from the lining was a stain that was already set in from previous owner. I figured it was because they'd spilled some perfume oil or something which caused the dye to spread to the interior a bit and then it was that way for who knows how long. Pretty much all the make up stains did come out. And the purpley looking dye that had leached that I couldn't remove, looked much better AFTER the bag had dried.

I got the pouch wet, then I turned it inside out and had better access to the lining. I used Tide detergent to wash it and also did a little Oxyclean powder on a tooth brush and worked it into the stains as well. I let it soak a while and scrubbed at intervals. Then I made sure to really RINSE IT for a long time until it felt squeaky clean, if that makes sense. Good luck. !

I am happy that the red dye in this particular bag didn't bleed out and make the bag lose it's depth. She's still not perfect (I might touch her up with a little acrylic) But I'd wear her as is. The thing that most made he happy was that scratch line area is greatly diminished in appearance.

Also, a little tip that I'm using that others have mentioned also. I LOVE Glad Press n Seal plastic wrap for protecting the leather while shining the brass. The slightly stick side of the wrap holds the plastic onto the leather, and for me at least, it's easier to work with than other types of plastic wrap.

That is such a great tip about the Press n Seal!

Yeah Press 'n Seal - great idea! Thanks for the tip.

My Coach fundraiser for my robotics team has gotten off to a great start - one teacher said "I'm not going to buy a raffle ticket because I have a closet full of Coach bags already. I need to clean my closet - can I donate a couple more for you to raffle?" UM, YES! Can't wait to see what she brings me. This is a super fun way to help my kids.

oh that's terrific!

Lookin good. I LOVE that green. I've been stalking green sonomas on the bay. Just haven't been able to land one yet.

I just washed a brit tan sonoma small bucket in the washing machine and she's handled it all pretty well so far!! Drying now too.

Thank you, Jessi, for the encouragement. She is a beautiful green and I'm looking forward to taking her out now.

I look forward to see the brit tan sonoma when you are ready to reveal her. Is she a nubuc, pebbled leather, or something else?

Good luck on finding your sonoma green!

You have started a positive trend! Hope all this energy pays off in a great way for the robotics team. I bet it will.

Awesome job-the color is just beautiful!

My briefcase like this didn't have spots so it rehabbed easily. Did you wash it first? I have a burgundy bag that has spots but they aren't as obvious as on your bag because it is a darker color. I mixed paint with conditioner. You can still see them but I think it looks better. It is hard to get a good photo of them, but this is what they look like now.

I'm afraid to dunk it because it's so light, and my last attempt at rehabbing a light bag (a stewardess) left it dehydrated and stripped-feeling no matter how much I conditioned. I figured some conditioner would hide the spots on the briefcase, but after it sunk in they are still just as visible. If it IS mildew, should I dunk it with a capful of bleach or mildew killer? Thanks for your help.
