FABULOUS JOB...beautiful bag! I have one that was originally light tan that I vinegarooned and ultimately Minwaxed to black (http://forum.purseblog.com/coach/coach-rehab-and-rescue-club-624452-191.html#post21841590). Hyacinth called it a Soho Shoulder Pouch #4025. I love mine, but the drawstrings are now so slick, they won't stay put! Any suggestions on how to remedy that?

THANKS! I couldn't have done it without you finding that "Linen" color, I don't think I would have had the patience!

I'm really happy with it. And my drawstring is fine and stays gathered so, unfortunately no ideas to help you on that one.

DemRam and I have determined that this is a different bag than yours, I actually searched this thread for yours before I posted that in the ID thread, I knew mine was different, but I couldn't remember exactly what yours looked like.

There is ongoing discussion in the ID thread, I think Hyacinth is on the case. I was going to call her "Spot" but it no longer fits.

I've never rehabbed anything myself...but I'm wondering, would one of those Shout dye catcher sheets do anything to prevent transfer of the dye onto the lining? Anyone every thought of trying that? And forgive me if this is the dumbest suggestion you've heard!!! :D

bbqluvr63. no question is dumb. This is a good one. Thank you for suggesting it! I will consider this if I decide to wash her. :-)

I would take it to a store where you can find a rainbow of acrylic paint choices like Michaels, and get an EXACT match and lightly dab a watered down acrylic onto the spots until it's "camouflaged" This bag is too awesome to not carry her. I am pretty forgiving of the marks on a vintage bag and would almost carry her as is. I don't think I'd risk washing her only because of the slight chance that dunking her won't get rid of the water spots and yet cause other problems....., but that's me. I'm miss Cautious Pants ....always.

Jessi319, you have a great idea too. I am told that I am way too picky! It's just that I always take such good care if my bags that I hate to carry with stains of any kind. Maybe I can try a little pain before I make the decision to dunk her. You're right tho, she is too pretty to not carry! :-)

I've never used castile soap on anything, so use your best judgement. I usually use whatever dish soap I have, I know some people use Woolite.

I think the most important thing is to use something relatively gentle, that is easy to rinse out.

I typed that out while you were posting the pix, so I hadn't seen it yet. Gorgeous bag. Do keep in mind that there's also a chance the color of the leather may run and leave the color of the bag somewhat uneven. I haven't had this happen but someone did, now I forget who it was and I'm at work and shouldn't be doing this at all.

Thank you ledobe. I didn't think about the color becoming uneven. . . Sigh! That could be worse than the spots. :(

Y'all rock with you advise. I have a more clear understanding of what the results could be with the bath vs camouflaging the spots. Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions and advise. I'll check back and let you know what I finally do! :-)

No thanks, I've gotten used to being called "Hyacinth". :D

And I still can't find that drawstring bag! It may have been a style that just made it into one or two catalogs that aren't in my library. It looks like it's from the Lightweight line but that's the best I can do. :confused1:

Noted! The one I'm eyeballing is saddle. It has some water damage, and some oxidation on the hardware. And could use a good round of leather lotion, at the very least!

A bath will help the water damage, it actually evens all the water spots out and kind of redeposits the dye. You can use Brasso on the hardware, then start conditioning the bag.

I spose it would just confuse the heck out of everyone if we called you by anything else :roflmfao:

Thank you for your efforts, if you can't find it, no one can. I have to say, the lighter leather and lack of hardware makes a huge difference, who knew? I have her loaded up with my usual stuff and compared to my Logan bag, she's still light as a feather.

I almost want to weight down the front flap though so it will "lay" better, it's almost too light.

Thanks for the info...enjoy DC...I worked at the Museum of Natural History during summers when I was in college, and moved to northern Virginia after I graduated! Saw the Hope diamond every day (drool!). Have a great time!

I've just gotten back; I visited the American History Museum, the Natural History Museum, and the Air and Space Museum! It was an incredibly rich experience but my feet are killing me!

Thank you!

Do I want to put anything in the water for the bath? Ivory or Woolite or something of that nature?

I'll have to order some more Apple goodies, and the Brasso!
