Gorgeous. I just found a navy colored bag exactly like that at GW !! you're right, the leather on this one was truly like butter with just one conditioning. Maybe the smaller bags retained their softness or something, or just was well cared for.
omg I would love to find one in Navy.....if you don't mind me asking how much was yours priced at (since it was a GW find like mine.) Mine was $19.99

I hope you still have it! Because I will love to call you my bag twinnie! I have the very same color and design bag. Mine is from the early to mid-1980s... I always say that the bag is the same age as me when people stop by and ask me about my bag! Because they know is an authentic one, knowing that most of the people where I live usually carry the monograms Cs or the newer models. So seeing a bag like this is very rare or any of the classics with the tag, so I know I am not carry any Coach bag but a vintage Coach bag. Although I admit the first time I used it I went out to eat and the waitress was a slop a got some marinara sauce on the surface of my bag. Luckily it did not stain my bag. I went back home use soap and water, recondition it and voila good as new! Don't you love the feel of it? Is my favorite and the bag that I am most proud of in own.

Aww zowye, I use it everyday, and will now think of you!! I loooove that bag. It goes with everything. And it's so comforting to know that I can just throw it in the wash if something gets on it, as you did.

ansaturday, I'll try rubbing alcohol next time! There's still one stain I'm determined to get out..

I don't have before pics (kicking myself for not taking any), but I rehabbed this vintage shoulder bag over the past few days, and I'm so happy with how it turned out:

It looked very rough before, to the point that I thought it was dark brown (now it's black)! I also replaced the oval turnlock (okay my BF did it), as the original pretty much fell apart. It's a fairly old bag (circa 60's - 70's), but it's so sturdy! I'm pretty stoked! :D

Wow, beautiful end result. I love this bag model too. I am such a fan of the twin straps on the vintage designs. (Because I don't think Coach puts them on newer versions..? Correct me if I'm wrong though.)

Can anyone tell me if there is any way to clean the lining of this bag?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230651568091&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I am working on the same bag right now (Gramercy Zip). The lining in my bag had some spots and soiling and a few ink marks, but nowhere near as bad as the bag on ebay.

I tried a few things including suede cleaner and it really didn't help. I made the mistake of trying to put alcohol on the ink marks and they just made ugly brown stains that didn't go away after the alcohol dried. It actually looked worse!

I know that you are not supposed to get suede wet but I didn't see any alternative so I pulled the lining outside of the bag and then scrubbed it by hand. I just used plain water and scrubbed hard with a soft cloth. It didn't seem to hurt it so perhaps I should have tried using soap?

Anyway it took a day and a half to dry but now the lining looks a lot better, the color is brighter and it is much cleaner. Now I have to work on the cloth fabric inside the zip pocket! I haven't even started on the exterior yet!

It is a lovely bag and the textures are just wonderfu!. The leather has a nice linen-like surface and when you put your hand inside the bag you feel a rich, soft suede, it's scrumptious!

I was looking at that bag on ebay and I think that it will be a real challenge to rehab. I would try to buy it cheap and then be prepared to wash it - possibly even put it through the washer! I don't know if it will survive, it's not an easy bag to clean but it sure is lovely. I think that bag on ebay is also missing the hangtag. Good luck!

Mine was $12, and initially I worried that it was a fake because it felt too "new' to be old LOL. GW varies a lot on their pricing from what I can see. $20 is still great for that condition of a bag!

Great job on the rehab and we are Basic Bag siblings, I have it in gray and dark brown - such a great, classic bag!

Yeah I was happy with it. Tonight I stopped by the same Goodwill to check out anything good they might have for me and I saw the same cashier that rung me up. I showed her my bag after rehab and she was impressed...lol.

Due to the new Coach Classics section, I have had a budding interest in the older bags. I finally rehabbed a bag I bought at Goodwill months ago for $6. I had started on it when I first got it, but then got caught up with everything going on and forgot about it. I broke it back out tonight and layered on about 5 coats of Apple (lol). I have no before pics, but let me tell you...while the bag was in GREAT condition (no worn areas anywhere, no ink marks, heck it was not even dirty) it was pretty dry. It sucked up the first coat of Apple within 30 seconds, LOL!
But I managed to get the leather body and the corners so moisturized, it now feels as soft as Kristin leather. I couldn't believe it. This bag can now be used for years and years to come. I have already loaded my stuff into it and am going to use it tomorrow (although it is Navy). I am now currently on the hunt for another bag to rehab, and I have my eye on one.
I took bunches of pics, so bear with me. :D

May I present: My new Princess!

She has NO corner wear anywhere...her corners and trim are soft as a baby butt now.

I love her to death, and wish all Coach would hold up as good as this one has, LOL!
I hope I will be able to add more to this thread in the future. Thanks for letting me share.

Wow I love your bag! And $6, I wish I could find one at GW for only $6....so far $19.99 was my best price. BTW I love that tartan ponytail scarf you tied around her to jazz her up!

I'm so glad I found this thread! I have an orange Stewardess bag that I bought on ebay. I've tried to clean it over the years with many different leather cleaners. Nothing made it look better, and some made it look worse. Yesterday I gave it a bath in Woolite. Holy Coach What a difference! Most of the orange dye came out (which I'm fine with) and now it's a beautiful rust or cognac brown color. I didn't think to take before pictures (even after reading all 20 pages of this thread). Orange looks good on very few people, and I'm not one of them, but I'm really excited about carrying this bag now!

I've never thought of doing that, but it's really tempting to show off these beauties. I've only been to that GW once. The main thrift shops I go to know me and are getting smarter...I seem to have noticed lately that they see that there's a vintage Coach "addict" coming in who's willing to pay more than $10 for a good old bag, and I"m seeing them raising their prices!!! I'm afraid if I show off my rehabs they will raise my prices even more LOL
