Coach Is Closing 70 Full Price Stores

Oh wait!!! I think I found a Motive for closing the full price stores. It makes FP items more desirable because they're harder to find. But I wish they would brand the factory items clearly as being from Factory to raise the demand for FP items instead of factory items...

The desire for FP won't rise till they step up the quality and designs.

BAM!!! Our one and only full price store in our largest mall closed yesterday. I'm sad to hear it but not surprised. It was just a few doors down from Dillards and Macy's wasn't much further away. It had been open for just under ten years.

We have one outlet...and the manager there told me they already have 40 boxes of bags to unpack and start putting out. OMG, I'm going to be running back and forth a couple of times a week. She said it will take several months to unpack and display the bags and accessories.

Oh my gosh. I'd be like a kid in a candy store!! Have fun & post lots of reveals!

I don't think by having fewer stores would make them more desirable. They're most likely closing the supposedly under-performing FP stores. And to brand the factory items clearly factory, in my mind would just backfire, to the result of outlets losing sales too. No one wants to other to know where they got the bags from/whether the're cheaper versions, and if Coach has to separate the two, they should call it something else. Branding them Factory is not going to help anything. In all seriousness, there are lots of examples to look at (Lauren by Ralph Lauren, Marc by Marc Jacobs, See by Chloe, etc.), and Coach should really follow those examples.

I totally agree :smile1: Closing FP stores does not make Coach more exclusive because every department store, including some that are decidedly not upscale, still sells Coach and still puts it on sale every other week.

Until Coach can control what is going on in the department stores, they will not have an upscale image in my opinion.

Maybe when they can afford not to sell in all these department stores...:sweatdrop:

I've seen some of the new FP, and the quality seems superb and the leathers are devine.

As a person who's purchased a few Vevers bag, post-boroughs, I'd beg to differ. I had a red nubuck Rhyder 33, that started showing white stuffing at the handles within four uses. When I saw the blue pebbled I have is of similar construction, I returned both before anything more disastrous could happen. The Smythe bag's leather was too thin for me, and quite a few folks on here have problems with their taxi totes. One has an Edie that have white corners, after the surface rubbed through. So to me, some of these bags may feel nice, but how they'll wear is a totally different question. The only Vevers design I still own is the red workwear Tatum tote, but since I've only taken it out once so far (lots of snow here), hard to say how it's going to hold up.

Style-wise, the Baseman stuff and the new floorset don't interest me very much, but that's more a decision of personal preference, than anything else.

My two coach Fp locations have now closed-one in Chattanooga Tennessee at Hamilton place in December and Towne center in Kennesaw Ga. Doesn't make me happy as I now have to get DH to drive as I can't get to the next location even though it is only 20 minutes away....

I was giddy with the thought of seeing all the goodies I was almost out of my mind...correction.

It will NOT take several months to unpack and display. The outlet manager called me last night and said at least one of everything is already out and on the shelves.

I wanted to go today but dang it, people are coming over to watch the game and I need to prep food. Wish I knew how to get out of this. I mean, priorities...right? :roflmfao:

I offered to help but they were already done.

I just visited my new nearest Fp store at perimeter mall and discovered that it and Lenox square are flagship stores!! This is why perimeter gets things others don't! I purchased my Dakota there and thought I would leave with a swagger but left with a teal whipstitch tote!! This is only the second time I have been there!!

The whipstitch tatum? I have it & LOVE it! It's my favorite by far. It's held up beautifully:)

The biggest difference between Lenox and Perimeter is that Lenox has Men's bag. I love the Men's bags but usually end up at Perimeter since it's on the way home from Coach Factory at Dawsonville.

I'm glad to hear perhaps some improvements are present, but it's seems no sooner does someone say that.. you get a negative review right on the heels. (which is evident by "loving my bags" post further down)

Unfortunately, I don't really want to give a negative review either...but what can I say, when the seven boroughs I own never gave me any trouble? Maybe it was an unrealistic comparison, but the result was just kind of disappointing. Anyhow, I'm still looking forward to Coach picking up their styles and quality! When they do, I'll surely be back for more :smile1: Even with the problems here and there, it's still one my favorite brands-KS and MK really don't do it for me.
