I agree here.. I am not a big fan of MK mainly because they don't have originality. Most of their handbags look like a copycat of another designer's design.. Plus almost all their handbags look so heavy! They became so popular tho for at least the past 2-3 years... I personally bought two MK handbags which I don't use anymore :( maybe I'll decide to use it tomorrow lol!

One thing that keeps me sticking with Coach so far is the size of their bags. I like BIG bags. They seem to be the only brand out of MK, KS, RM and TB that still makes large enough sizes. I like MK but their "large" sizes are what I would consider small.

I've had a bit of an epiphany since I received my teal Rebecca Minkoff morning after mini and Marc by Marc Jacobs black baby groovee this week. These bags are just... breathtaking. I want all of my bags to give me that feeling. I looked at my closet full of Coach and decided to cull it by half. I couldn't quite part with ten of them but I did pull out seven I can live without. I just have too many. And they don't make my heart skip a beat like my higher end ones do. I am going to list them and already kind of dreading because I know I'll lose money on many of them because I'm not a reseller who lives by an outlet and can buy a new FP bag for $117 and sell it for twice that.

I'm really feeling done with Coach :( I still love my Phoebes and Sophias and a few other beauties. But I think reading this forum got me so caught up in getting new things that I didn't really LOVE. I would rather have fifteen bags that all set my world on fire than 30 that sit neglected most of the time. So in a way all these changes at Coach are coming at the right time for me. I'm not that interested in spending $600+ on a Coach with a cheap lining and inferior leather. For that I can find (with patience) two special old school RMs made in New York with impeccable quality.

(And it does seem like EVERY handbag designer (with maybe a few premier exceptions?) has declined in quality over the past few years. I won't buy new Rebecca Minkoff. I've even heard complaints about LV. I guess the key is to buy when the brand is not popular yet, and hasn't started cutting corners to mass produce at higher volume.)

I agree, I am buying fewer and fewer bags and prices are higher than I want to pay. My collection is complete enough that I know what I have is better than some of what is now our there. Stepping back a lot more.

I agree that the major brands seem to be cutting corners to keep profits up and produce at high volume.

Oh I want the black MBMJ Baby Groovee! I've been thinking of it a lot lately. I have stopped buying Coach (really stopped anything). Where did you get the MBMJ?

I agree with only keeping the ones that make your heart skip a beat. It's easy to get caught up buying stuff that you otherwise wouldnt have purchased.

Yes, the way Coach does its PCE and special events for existing loyal customers makes no sense because so many loyal customers are left out. I think it's a mistake to take it personally...it isn't personal, they have just been inept at effective marketing and promotions, that's all.
Just issue all loyal customers a freaking loyalty card. Then no one is left out.

I am having some of the same thoughts as you. Nothing is really wowing me for the new collection, especially since the reviews on the leather quality aren't great. There are a few legacy items that I passed on in hopes that the new line would blow me away but that didn't happen. I've decided that if I can find those items at a good price I will get them because they fill the holes in my collection. Other than those few items I think I will be done with coach unless there is a big turn around in quality to justify the higher prices.

I came to the realization that I was just buying to have a "new bag high" about a year ago. I cut my Coach stash down from almost 50 to about 20. I'm not sure if it's just me getting older or prioritizing because I have a child or I just got bored with Coach but something isn't there for me anymore. Reports of inferior leather and lining have me turned off of buying what little interests me. I'm trying to buy what I think I will use or what I can't seem to live without.

I totally relate to your post. :smile1: New bag highs are easier to get for me with Coach because Coach is less expensive than the other brands I buy. But the high goes away quickly for me.

I have a few Coach bags I really love, but for me, Coach fit into a period of my life and a mindset that I am now growing out of. I bought three fall bags (bought 4, returned one). I am done.

I recently have given away most of my Coach collection. I gave away all of my phoebes (except for one haircalf phoebe I bought on fos) and all of my kristins. I only now have 4 vintage Coach bags, one grommet borough, two urbanes, and my two new fall bags (a studded edie and the grommet carlyle).

Although I really like the studded Edie, it is not a high quality bag. The price is not justified in any way in my opinion. I am disappointed in myself for paying full price for a bag that is worth half what I paid for it. I am not beating myself up however, but am going to have this be my representative piece from the Vevers Collection.

I will never pay the high price I paid for the Edie for a Coach bag again. The quality simply isn't there.

My goal is to continue to simplify my collection and only buy quality, timeless bags that I will be able to use and love for a long time.

Unfortunately that means I will be buying other brands or vintage Coach.

Oh...I hear you on the new bag high. I always build them up so much (if they are shipped to me)I feel they could be life changing. Ha ha. Then I look at them for a while or carrying them a few times and that's it.

Besides that...the new styles are not my style. So I'm set for now.

Went to my fp boutique today and they were getting in all of vevers stuff today. I had planned on buying a rhyder right away, but now I need to think about it a little, I do still like it a lot, and I don't think the leather is lower quality (at least in my opinion) but It's a high price point for a plain leather bag, and im taking about the 33. Not impressed by the taxi or the edie, both look like mff stuff to me. The crosby is cute, and I think I might want the python one instead of a rhyder at least for now. My store didn't get in the tatum totes though...

The much touted Vevers Fall line-up hasn't even fully landed at my local stores and already I'm over it with the following deal breakers -

1) The slit phone pocket behind Smythe reminds me of B Makowsky - too bad I was looking for a light weight bag but I don't want to feel like paying FP for what looks like should be hanging at TJ Maxx.

2) I was so looking forward to the studded luxury bags but when I saw that the Edie only has it on one side - too reminiscent of again TJ Maxx pleather one-sided design bags. It looks so half finished, it represents something lacking at the core of Coach's design attitude. It's like Coach is saying half is good enough for our clientele.

3) The scratchy cheap lining replacing the thick satin.

4) I was late in becoming aware of Coach's older designs and just learning about them on TPF and Ebay. Designs like the Kristin Sage, Legacy esp the 65th Anniversary bags, Tattersall, old Bleecker designs. The old studded Abbey bags while too heavy for me would be a much more impressive studded design than what's out now.

5) I never liked Phoebe, Madeline, Borough, Urbane, Georgie, Preston, Toaster, Brooklyn...now Carlyle, Edie. The feathers sold separately reminds me of airlines charging for blankets, pillows, earphones, etc.

5) The price increase just isn't justified for the above bags. But it's not just the price, it's that the bags don't seem worth saving up for when there are other alternatives including their own older designs at better price points in NWT and NWOT conditions.
