I knew this was coming.

Those on here a while probably remember Coach's glory years, when the stock shot way up? Think about what was going on at that time

  • Coach had a VERY successful Madison line (Sophia/Sabrina days)
  • PCE was not what it has been....every other week. PCE was done usually quarterly. And it really gave you something to look forward to
  • There were no Facebook coupons. Not sure if there was FB and if so it did not enjoy the mainstream popularity it does now
  • There were no FOS sales every week because here was no Factory Online Sale
  • Then when they started FOS, it was not every week. Again like the old PCE you had something to look forward to. Sometimes I don't even check FOS anymore,. I will just see the same stuff I saw last week. Price might fluctuate though
  • Deletes would take 6 months to go to the outlet. But they were there and all outlets got them not just flagship. There were always some outlets that got more but even the smaller outlets still got some
  • Which deletes the outlets got was not predictable either. It was a nice surprise what you might find....like a treasure hunt. And every once in a while you would find a bag from a couple years ago. Not returns, Coach would just all of sudden open the vault. Remember ladies how busy Saturdays and Sundays used to be here with all the outlet reveals?
  • Now it is standard that outlets always have an additional % off coupon when you walk in - then they did not. If they had a coupon it was a surprise. And you took advantage when they did have a coupon because you did not know when they would have them again
  • They were not making MFF bags in mass that were based on full price styles
And my personal pet peeve, they made great bags in medium size. Coach continues to almost exclusively make large bags and mini bags now.

This model worked. This model got people excited about Coach. Then they diluted the brand with constant PCEs and FB coupons, constant FOS, limited outlet deletes and only to flagship stores, MFF bags modeled on FP styles....they got crazy. Now they are going to the extreme with the new plan which I think will bite them. Why don't they look at what was working, what was going on when things were good and re-visit that?
I totally agree on the medium sized bags. I want them. I loved old (vintage) Coach and Legacy line last year. I think they should concentrate on that.

Are in MN? Talking about Eagan?

At MOA I have walked by a handful of times in the last couple weeks and always empty as was the Ridgedale store when I walked by ealier this week but the Coach area in Macy's had people standing at the register waiting in line (so like 4 customers trying to check out).

I went to the Galleria today to order a purse I was interested in and while it wasn't crazy there were a few people in there when I got there and others who had come in so I would say in the 30 minutes or so I was there ordering it there were at least 8 customers, more like 20 if you counted people not groups.

I really questioned the one I ordered because there are so many of the same bag out there usually and I really didn't want to see or hear it get marked way down but I need one for a trip and no time to wait.
I do have to say that just from my personal opinion seeing what has been in stock since March and what I was able to see of fall today and have seen online I like the fall collections better. I haven't purchased a Coach handbag in 4+ years and was surprised when I went back to look at them needing a purse for an overseas trip how much the brand, stores, ect have changed since I was last in a store. The reason I stopped buying Coach was because everyone had one, the same ones, there wasn't anything special the factory here really flooded the market. Nothing like getting a bag and having someone you know get the same one a couple months later for a lot less... makes it feel like a waste of money and not special.

unfortunately coach forgot one thing. Their homework! There's a danged good reason why my local fp store located close to the airport gets cleaned out whenever they have a shoe sale. Or extend the pce to customer that wanders in. Or gets cleaned out without them having to have a pce sale. Any coach store that opens in china, mainland chinese will not buy because they fear it's not authentic coach. They think it's fake, even if it's authentic. I think it has to do with so much counterfeit goods being sold in china. Instead they'll pay for a plane ticket to north america, and buy from coach fp stores in north america because they trust the fp stores in north america to sell authentic coach.

Coach is being stupid. if they really want to rake in the moolah from them, they ought to open up fp stores and outlets in port cities. Research the places mainland chinese like to travel to in north america and open fp stores there. Has coach even been keeping up with the news at all? lol

closing fp stores in north america isn't their brightest idea xD. They better not close my local fp store. That would be stupid xD. Planeloads of tourists cleaning them out. If anything they should turn that store into a flagship store.

Asian tourists buy Coach in the US because they can get it for a fraction of the cost than the price in Asia, not because they think Coach boutiques are selling fakes. Come on.

Exactly. We always had a lot of Asian buyers in our store, and they told us what the prices were back home. Coach was up there in status with Louis Vuitton.

You are right, mostly because Coach is cheaper here in the US than in Asia, but her point is also valid. I know for sure many Asians, esp. Chinese, Vietnamese dont trust their boutiques. Recently a gucci store in Vietnam was accused of importing high grade fakes from Hongkong and selling them in their stores. So many times they buy a lot overseas even when the prices are not lower.

once it crosses the border it automatically is assumed to be non authentic. Look they even somehow managed to copycat an entire apple store in china and even fooled the staff they hired into believing it's the real thing. What's to say that someone may copycat a coach boutique and pretend it's the real thing? A fake coach boutique, I wouldn't put it past some people there lol, It's why most asians rather buy a plane ticket and buy from a coach store over here in north america or even aussieland where it's more expensive than here. It's the comfort of knowing they're being sold the real thing.

I see. Thank you! So people with no outlet nearby are out of luck, I guess?

Yeah, which is very odd in my opinion. Some people were going to see if they could call the closest outlet to ask if they would sign them up over the phone.....I didn't see how that turned out.......then someone volunteered to take info to their outlet to sign someone up.

It was mentioned that this is Coach's attempt to prevent people from signing up for multiple accounts. That's pretty much all I've heard.

Yes, you would think that a company losing sales $$$ would make it EASIER for people who want their products to purchase them...........:thinkin:

Don't think too hard!!! Pretty sure we can just jump to the conclusion that Coach is a hot mess in terms of their policies and customer info. As someone with a background in marketing, it still surprised me that they would not pull together some TPF members for a focus group. All this free feedback from passionate Coach fans, and none of this feedback is ever leveraged. Mind-boggling really!
