I was talking to my SA this morning and he said the Madison and another popular line (sorry don't remember the name) will be changing drastically in the fall. He said even the names will be changing, soooo I'm guessing they are just phasing it out completely?

Perhaps they will be phasing out the old lines and taking them to the outlets and then once they introduce the new lines, those lines will be completely following the new format of going on sale in FP stores through semi annual sales rather than outlets. I'm guessing that's the route they might take. I think it might work. Again, I haven't been in the coach loop for years, so I don't know how their customer base will react. As a returning customer, they have my attention.

This is an excellent piece of analysis and I think they are spot on in many areas. This really stood out:

"Among the similarities between the two brand's transformations, Lejuez wrote, are a team that has never before overhauled a company (Coach CEO Victor Luis was appointed to the role in January, while Johnson came from Apple), a discontinuation of "significant revenue drivers" (Coach's fall lineup will not include its Madison, Legacy or Poppy collections, which account for two-thirds of its handbag sales, while J.C. Penney "abandoned" its $1 billion-plus St. John's Bay brand), and a strategy that is being rolled out without extensive testing."

"The problem is that we do not expect the more luxury customer will be as interested in Coach as Coach is in them," Lejuez wrote. "The bigger risk is that the core customer finds the new product too fashion forward and asks where 'my Coach' went."

This analysis is on point. The new management focus is on what a small leadership team thinks will evolutionize a turn around. The turn around plans appear to be , to significant extent, missing the customers' voice and choice. Abandon thousands of customers' past shopping patterns and focus on five or six people's visions, using involvement and history from another designer in a different demographic vertical ?!

I know, it's crazy isn't it. Coach will lose way more market share abandoning the old styles and sales channels than they will gain with trying to sell the new styles at full price in limited channels.

That market share, once lost will be very expensive to win back if it is even possible to win it back.

I agree with the above. I already am starting to feel disconnected from Coach, as I feel like they are purposely trying to get rid of customers like myself. The average price handbag shopper that is willing to pay some $ for quality, but not what I consider ridiculously high amounts. That said, I have never been into MK or Kate Spade...nothing they have interests me, so it isn't like I will go to a competitor. I will most likely just enjoy what I have and hopefully save myself some money.

I just don't feel like becoming a part of the new demographic they are seeking. They are taking the fun out of handbag shopping for me with all of these limits, etc, they are setting up.

Exactly, I am trying to go through my current collection, which is extensive, and organize it. If I had the guts I would sell some off on Ebay. I keep telling myself not to buy more, then I do. I need to stop and enjoy what I have.

Coach games and price increases are going to make that easier. I have no opportunity to see FP items IRL. If they are gone from the outlet. They are gone for me.

If they are smart they will just bring in a couple of new lines with the new bags, while leaving the Madison, Bleecker and whatever other line is selling. They are always introducing or bringing back, new lines so I don't see the problem.

I feel like my time (and money) spent with Coach is coming to a close. I'm not digging the direction, the fall lineup is not appealing to me, and I would miss Madison's and Bleecker's as they are now. I guess it's time to look elsewhere.

And they're going to have a rough time attracting the younger crowd to the brand. My friends tease me about Coach being the "grandma" bags. I don't think these new bags with turnlocks everywhere help.:laugh:

Really? I have never heard that. I love the turnlocks. I think they are iconic and classy.
