COACH Hall of Shame - Post Coach fakes here!

Saw this on FB marketplace listed as “Vintage Coach Leather Backpack”. I asked the seller for a pic of the label inside and I actually laughed when I saw “this is a good leather bag”. I told them I would have to pass and that the bag is counterfeit and they told me it wasn’t and blocked me. View attachment 5898628View attachment 5898629
Watch out for those scartches!

I’m still learning how to identify the fakes. this one is fake because of the font right, the spacing in between “bag”?

More important is that it has an invalid serial number prefix. "D2J-" serials in bags with US creeds are ALWAYS fake.

I suggest you read the Salearea Guides thread and especially the included Daria48 Fake Coach Numbers List:

Thank you so much!!! This is what I’ve been looking for to have as a reference.

I’ve noticed this pattern too.

You are spot on here. And they are knowingly selling fakes.
Here’s my experience with GWF and the fake Coach they sent me.

I tend to find one or two a week and notify GW with reasons and support for my claims; generally they kill the listing right away. There was one from a couple of weeks ago and that particular location allowed the auction to proceed, so I called them on it. Their answer was that they had to bring it to the attention of the listing manager and would proceed from there. Hello? You had ample time to do so when I first alerted you and it's not legal to sell counterfeit goods

Cool, great, you have a process for questionable listings. I pointed out that they risk reputational harm and that the defrauded winning bidder would be disappointed and view them as lacking integrity. I'll see what they come back with.

Another H4B-0516, according to the GW listing, no image for the creed.

Despite all the nonsense disclaimers on Goodwill Industries of the Valleys's listing, this is a statement from Ryan Smith, senior director online operations at shopgoodwill.com:

"Items found to be counterfeit will be dismantled and repurposed for other uses like craft materials or textile recycling, Ryan Smith, senior director online operations at shopgoodwill.com, told Retail Dive in an interview."

The problem (as we've seen countless times) is that Goodwill uses Entrupy and we know how frequently they get it wrong!

Damn! I watch videos from the guy that butchers luxury bags, and he's been using Entrupy to authenticate.

He was invited by TRR to visit their NJ location, to show how their process works of authenticating luxury items. One of his videos was about a Hermes he bought from TRR, and the type of leather was incorrect. He got a bunch of comments on the video from people saying they received fake bags from TRR.
