She knows it's fake, as indicated by her description! (Made by "Genu.") LOL!

"DESCRIPTION: Vintage Coach bag 101-12 made by Genu , I believe this is a coach replica from the 1970s/80s & is priced as so."

I saw that, but the title and description of the offering still mentions Vintage Coach. Also the -ine is on the next line, but then the description goes into lala land . I personally would not buy from this seller, because the description IS shady .

The description legally doesn't matter, no matter how "honest" it is about the item's actual provenance. The bag has a "Coach" creed and that by itself is a violation of US anti-counterfeiting laws. When something has a brand name of a company and wasn't made by that company, it's counterfeit and it's a Federal offense AND a felony to sell it. Any description by the seller means absolutely nothing, it's the existence and any offer to sell or trade an item that violates Coach's trademarks or copyrights that's the actual crime. The seller's knowledge that the item is fake won't do them any favors with the judge or the FBI either, but the law is based on theft of Coach's legal property which is protected by US and international laws. It's like copying and selling videos or books or music when someone else legally owns the copyright or trademark. A seller can disclose that they're copies in 6-inch high letters, but if Disney or Marvel or Beyonce comes after them they're still F***ed.

Thank you Hyacinth for that really clear description of the counterfeit law. For some reason I thought in terms of presenting a counterfeit item rather than the tag in the purse which could "hang" the reseller. To my mind a point well taken. I think of course that it is unfortunate for the non discerning buyer, because they will read the description and pay none or little attention to the "creed". They just see the top line and are duped - the bag is already in 2 people's cart .
