COACH Hall of Shame - Post Coach fakes here!

In addition to what BeenBurned already said, the only possibly genuine Y plant code in any kind of bag at any time in Coach's history was found in 2 possibly genuine travel items made in China with a 2006 year code. (The year code in all the fakes is for 1998). And the jury is still out on those China-made items. But NO Y plant code has ever been found from the 1990s in any genuine bag of ANY kind with a US creed.

The probably genuine China-made bags from the travel line are below, click on the thumbnails.

Thanks so very much!! Very helpful info. Looks like I'm the proud owner of 3 very nice looking and well made fakes....yay me!!

I forgot about travel items! In fact, I have a creed from 2005 that I'm 99.9% certain (and that I have saved as "authentic")is genuine. Unfortunately, I didn't save pictures of the rest of the bag.

ETA: ALthough I saved that picture a l-o-n-g time ago, the listing from which it came is still available!

Interesting, thanks! It was called a Transatlantic Wheel Along Wih Suiter, and was apparently introduced some time between late 2001 and 2003 if it had the same intro time as the other Transatlantic items.

From the listing photos, I'm sure it's genuine. Counterfeiters hardly ever bothered with faking Coach luggage pieces although a few have turned up - too expensive to make, and an almost non-existent market compared to the HUGE market for fake Coach purses and wallets and even briefcases. Why bother?

I'm too lazy to go back to your previous post to see if you posted these details, but can you still return them? Where and when did you buy them, and did you pay with a credit card?

And please, ALWAYS ask here first before you buy.

Thanks so much for checking in with again!

I initiated a return right after I received verification that all bags were fakes. I also reported the seller for listing/selling counterfeit Coach purses. I imagine that ebay will need to get involved with this one, as I've heard nothing yet. I've been buying and selling on ebay as a hobby for over 21 years and this is the first time I've had an issue like this!

On another note~SO excited as today I found a vintage British Tan Casino bag at Goodwill for $20.00. I know it's authentic as I did my research and due diligence before buying it ;) I have been on the hunt for one for awhile!!

The Casino needs a little work, but I've rehabbed before and am looking forward to resurrecting this bag!!!

Hi all!
I am a newbie to this site, but a LONGtime Coach connoisseur. I like to buy, refurbish, gift, keep, sell.....you name it!
So. I've been lurking here for a little while and I'd love some clarification on the whole "J8Y" serial numbers. These are always, 100% fake Coach bags??? I bought a few on ebay, and unfortunately I may have been duped. I DO NOT want to resell or gift to friends if they are not authentic. I will also contact the seller and make her aware as well.

I LOVE reading these forum posts as I've learned so much about these wonderful Coach bags!! Thanks in advance for your help and guidance!

There was a time when there wasn't enough solid evidence and the possibility was that some J8Y bags may have been genuine.

It has since been determined that all bags with that prefix are fake.

Congrats on the new-to-you casino bag!

As for the fakes, you say you "initiated a return" and referred to ebay. As long as the requested the return for not "seeming" authentic (Ebay's terminology for counterfeit), you can escalate after the seller's deadline for responding passes. Ebay will find in your favor, require the seller to pay for return shipping and if she doesn't, ebay will send the label and charge the seller's account. You'll win the case as long as you take the necessary steps within the required timeframe.

As required by post 1 on the first page (and we should have asked for it sooner), please post the seller ID and a link to the listing.
