There was a time when there wasn't enough solid evidence and the possibility was that some J8Y bags may have been genuine.Hi all!
I am a newbie to this site, but a LONGtime Coach connoisseur. I like to buy, refurbish, gift, keep, sell.....you name it!
So. I've been lurking here for a little while and I'd love some clarification on the whole "J8Y" serial numbers. These are always, 100% fake Coach bags??? I bought a few on ebay, and unfortunately I may have been duped. I DO NOT want to resell or gift to friends if they are not authentic. I will also contact the seller and make her aware as well.
I LOVE reading these forum posts as I've learned so much about these wonderful Coach bags!! Thanks in advance for your help and guidance!

It has since been determined that all bags with that prefix are fake.
I forgot about travel items! In fact, I have a creed from 2005 that I'm 99.9% certain (and that I have saved as "authentic")is genuine. Unfortunately, I didn't save pictures of the rest of the bag.In addition to what BeenBurned already said, the only possibly genuine Y plant code in any kind of bag at any time in Coach's history was found in 2 possibly genuine travel items made in China with a 2006 year code. (The year code in all the fakes is for 1998). And the jury is still out on those China-made items. But NO Y plant code has ever been found from the 1990s in any genuine bag of ANY kind with a US creed.
The probably genuine China-made bags from the travel line are below, click on the thumbnails.
