That extra $300 is probably justified given the embossing, but might be due to the larger size of the item. A larger tote uses more leather. I think that inner pouch is bigger too on the 38 vs. the regular sized tote.

This is probably seen as a similar strategy to the price difference of a Rogue 25 vs. 36, for example.
It is hard to know what the deal is here- I asked why so expensive for the 38 and the SA volunteered that the regular tote without the cartoon is 695 and the difference was for the graphics and possibly being limited to this season. Just someone's opinion but clearly, we are paying for the exclusivity and unique design.

I am on the fence about the bag- it is beyond adorable but I am not sure what I would use it for. It seems to fill the "LV Keepall" niche- a weekend travel bag. I do not really need it from a practical standpoint. Trust me this has never stopped me from splurging on something ridiculously adorable like this in the past but for some reason it is making me think first.

The problem with it being the size of a weekender is that it doesn't zip up like one! If you take it for a weekend trip all your stuff will just be visible from the top and may even fall out or be easily stolen. It still wouldn't stop me from getting this tote, but it has some downsides. Also, given how heavy rogues are, I imagine stuffing that tote to the brim will be a huge disservice to one's back. Perhaps it could be used as a bag for those days you have a large volume of stuff to carry, particularly non-heavy things like papers or a big sweater. Hmm

It really isn't all that heavy. Really. That's why I think they didn't put a heavy zipper closure on it or any internal hardware in it. There is not even an internal zipper.

If they would've put a lot of heavy hardware into the bag it would have weighed too much so maybe they chose to leave it open to minimize the weight. I purchased an organizer and it zips at the top so everything in my bag seems secure now with a reasonable weight. But I think that the open top of the bag was designed that way to compete with the LV Neverfull MM. These two are very similar if not identical in their top closure. The only difference I really see is the quality of the Coach bag (supple leather vs. coated canvas), which imo far surpasses the LV. The longer strap on the Rogue Tote makes it easier to carry on the shoulder for me. I tried the LV but it seemed to slip down off my shoulder. Maybe it is just me.

Basically, if you follow the LV blogs, their most recent Neverfull, which is the My World Tour Collection sells for over $1700 or so for mainly canvas, is smaller, and was having some reports of problems with the sticker embossing chipping. I don't mind spending a few dollars if I end up with a piece that will stand the test of time. I have no confidence the LV would be in as good a shape as the Coach five years from now for close to half the price.

Right now I have my tote loaded up, and it weighs not much more than my fully loaded Rogue 30. I don't know why but it must be the hardware. Or the suede. Or the zippers on the 30. Remember the lock on the first generation Rogue? Just taking that little lock off the bag lightened it up.

Oh, by the way for those who are looking for a color representation of that tooled Rogue, if you view the Apple Watch band on the Coach site you will see a closer representation of the color.

Well I think LV bags are pretty ugly 90% of the time and very overpriced for what they are (if I'm allowed to say so here). The leather ones are even higher priced but somehow people are willing to pay thousands for canvas or other synthetics that has been counterfeited so much it's hard to distinguish from the real thing. Frankly, they look cheap and tacky to me and I don't understand the obsession at all.
The rogue totes are way more gorgeous and I'm glad to hear they're not heavy, it's better for your back and comfort :) Enjoy your tote!

*Just a little friendly tip meant in the kindest and most constructive way possible*

If you're going to totally trash and discredit another designer's entire line of handbags that MANY MANY other Coach enthusiasts are crazy about, and MANY MANY Coach enthusiasts own and take pride in, I would keep in mind that by making such negative blanket statements, you are actually insulting every individual that reads your post, that happens to be a big fan of this designer. Many people have invested large sums of money to own these collections.

It's not relevant to them how much you dislike a brand that they love, unless they specifically asked your opinion of that designer. I'm sure you meant no malice, but it's good to be mindful of how they may feel after reading your very harsh critique -- maybe you feel like you're just being 'honest' in your assessment, but being tactless will not win you friends.

Ok, lecture over.

Well I just stated my opinion, and was clear that it was simply that. I didn't say anything negative about people who are into LV, just that I didn't understand it. The post I was replying to actually made the comparison and I agreed. I think you're overreacting honestly because I include that fact that certain bags look a certain way to me every time I state my opinion. Calling people tactless is not really friendly either. People on this forum trash Coach all the time - I don't see anyone getting offended because not everyone has to like a brand. I don't see how my dislike of it would be offensive to you.

I actually think everyone is allowed to their opinions here and that group think is problematic.

I actually think saying 90% of LV bags are not appealing is not a big deal, it's a free country and there is free speech for a reason.

I'm not a fan of LV and I've seen tons of people on other parts of this forum bash Coach and I LOVE the brand. I don't think Okdot crossed the line at all. It's all part of online forum experince to have people be more blunt online than in person.

And I stated MY opinion of YOUR post. Of course most of us, myself included, bash Coach products and the way the company is run, regularly, on this Coach Forum. But I've rarely seen so much vitriol and mean-spirited remarks made about one subject... I just found it inflammatory. And at the end you claim that Coach totes are way more gorgeous than LV Totes -- as if that was a fact, not an opinion.

No one is saying you don't have the right to write whatever you choose on here. But I don't feel like I overreacted to the way you composed your post...I'm not judging your deep hatred of LV products, as much as how you communicated it. In MY opinion it WAS tactless....and I'm guessing some LV fans will feel the same way. Maybe they won't. But like you, I'm entitled to MY opinion.

I stand by what I said, and feel it was entirely appropriate given the context. I wish you would not have chosen to use ad hominem attacks towards me. It's unnecessarily hostile and insulting. I refuse to engage in that and encourage the thread to get back on the topic of Coach.

Yes, let's move on!

Well, I love Coach and I love LV. I don't like when people on tPF bash Coach, but I also don't like when people bash LV. Or any other brand, whether I own it or like it or not. MK often gets the worst of it on tPF. I know it bothers a lot in the MK forum who genuinely adore their bags. To me the fact some people bash Coach does not "justify" lowering to that level to bash "their" brands.

There are ways to say a brand is not YOUR personal taste without basically saying "eeewww...canvas" or calling it "cheap and tacky". Because no matter whether you genuinely believe you are talking only about a bag, people who feel fondly of their bags and brand - and often spend for them what is decent money, save up, consider their purchases, may have sentimental ties to a bag or brand - are not going to see it that way.

As for myself, yes Coach 1941 is to me great quality, especially for the price. Wonderful leather, suede linings, great detail. Adore my Rogues! But I am also in a new LVoe affair with my (two!) new Pochette Metis (also adored my old Speedy, now my sister's, and my Speedy B). They are amazing, and I don't care they are canvas - that is in my eyes is a plus as there are advantages to canvas, and LV does canvas in a way only LV can after 163 years of doing it. And clearly others agree as LV holds its value incredibly well - you can often resell for the same price you purchased (LV never goes on sale). Something that sadly can't be said of Coach, despite the great quality of the Coach 1941 line in my view.

I mean Stuart Vevers worked at LV with Marc Jacobs, the companies in the handbag and luxury world is not as "separate" as sometimes it seems people treat them on tPF.

I am a HUGE LV fan and loyal enthusiast and am not offended. To each their own.
