Coach doesn’t want to encourage your business

It would be nice if you could get quality service from everyone, but that is atypical. Like most businesses, I think the key to quality treatment at Coach is hooking up with the right person. I went to my FP store, found the friendliest SA, and told her I wanted to build a relationship with someone who would call me, help me, etc. She loved the idea and I started making sure that I bought everything through her, gave her codes I found here that even she didn't have, never returned items to her store to avoid dinging her, etc. And, specifically told her I was making that effort. In return, I started getting courtesy discount coupons, advance notice, she calls me and does pre-orders when a PCE is coming up, etc. I have four Boroughs and bought them all on discounts after building up this relationship. When I was calling JAX, and happened to catch a less polite rep, I got off the phone quickly and called back, and I've reached some lovely reps who talked to me on the phone like we were longtime girlfriends. There are bad reps everywhere and it can easily poison your taste for the whole company, which is unfortunate for the ones who are working hard to help people. Everyone deserves to be treated well and buying Coach is a blast when you get to do it with a SA or JAX rep who enjoys it as much as we do.

Thanks all, sorry as I am to say it, Coach's behavior does seem to support this SAs comment. For some silly reason, I am still fascinated with a couple of bags: the Borough and the stripe highrise revealed here on the forum.

I have an older Bonnie crossbody I am going to bring out of my collection. It's similar in shape to the highrise and I think will fill the need. So I won't be buying either, at least for a while.

Of course I did not get the PCE this time, big surprise. The phone call from the FP SA who always promises to call hasn't materialized either. I almost broke down yesterday to call and see if she would extend it on the highrise, because there seems to be some question if it can be used on that bag. I already know it doesn't work on the Borough.

Several members here on the board have offered their PCEs that they are not going to use to me, but from what I have heard, they cannot be transferred anymore. I really appreciate those offers, such a sign of "solidarity" buoyed my spirits. Frankly it seems like too much work...borrow someone's PCE, beg to be able to use it and see if it applies to the item one wants. Just so I can spend my money at a retailer that doesn't want it or my business.

I have enough of a Coach collection for three people, so each time I get the urge to buy something, I'll shop my closet. If I find a few NWT items with receipt I will slowly return those.

I'm still going to be on the forum to see what Coach comes up with, but I will part with my money even less than I do now.

I remember the days (not so long ago) I would go to the outlet and come with four or five items. Now I usually walk out empty handed. If I am the typical "long-term" older buyer, is it any wonder the balance sheet is going down?

Geez what a Debbie Downer! LOL Happy Sunday all!

EDIT: I really hope someone with pull at Coach sees this thread. There are an awful lot of us 40, 50 and 60 somethings with money to spend.

Not Debbie Downer....you're just stating it like it is! I for one, think it's ridiculous! The PCE is basically a coupon.... anyone should be able to receive and use a coupon. Who gets one...who doesn't.... what it will work on....what it won't....it works with some stores....doesn't work in some stores.....good lord Coach.... get your $hit together!

Heh. Most 20 something's that I know can't afford Prada, or the ones that can buy preloved! I'm in my 20s and let me tell you, when I wasn't living at home with mom and dad, my bag purchases came to a screeching hault... Whether it was LV or Coach!

People still share PCEs and are able to use them so I don't know why some have the idea that they can't. I have used a couple recently myself since I just stopped getting them recently.

My latest PCE cards and emails (last two or so) say non-transferable now in the fine print. Both of the last PCEs I bought small things, but the SA had to look me up in the computer to see if I had actually gotten a PCE even though I had the email and or card from the mail, so I think they are cracking down on the whole sharing PCE codes thing.

Personally, I think it's not a good idea for Coach--if I don't use it, they could have made money off of someone who would; now, they will just lose that money entirely. Seems silly if there NA sales are down! But then, I'm an English teacher, not a Business teacher. :p

I agree. Giving someone a PCE may be that person's first foray into the world of Coach. After all, if I know I'm not going to use it, what's the point of it going to waste?

This is awesome. You're awesome! Hahahah "ate her lunch in the food court" hahahahah

No doubt this sales girl works part time (most retailers will not hire full-time anymore) and she makes a low retail workers wage-so therefore SHE herself cannot afford Coach bags without a heavy store discount and her plastic $500 limit credit card, yet she has her nose in the air..oh what a joke

You know what? Shopping your collection is a great idea, especially if you already have lots of fantastic bags in your collection the way most of us do. And don't feel guilty for being fascinated with a particular bag...we all have things we want which we may not always be able to have for whatever reason. Still, that's no reason to stop admiring it altogether.

In any case, more power to you, plus more $$$ staying in our wallets is never a bad thing!

Amen, sister!

Right? I will never understand how it makes sense from a business standpoint to DISCOURAGE a sale for no other reason than you aren't the one making the purchase.

Oh well, Coach's loss.

Coach really has been changing over the past few years. I've been collecting Coach items since I was 19. I'm still in their target range at 26 years old, but I've got to say that their current line of bags doesn't appeal to me. I'm sorry to say that their bags are a little more "business like" and less casual than I like. I have a collection of leather bags that are cute, casual, and strong enough to have taken a beating for many years. Where is that quality now? Gone by the wayside. I'm patiently waiting for Coach to get back into shape.
This. I particularly dislike also how the focus has shifted to gold hardware almost exclusively. Looking back on Coach's previous collections from 2007 until about fall 2012, I'm always kind of wistful about being unable to get in on those collections prior to fall 2012.

At least the Legacy line had some nice colours. Too bad the duffles showed corner wear so easily, and the Madison line no longer had much to drool over.

Oh yes. With today's technology they know stuff about me that I don't even know! Seriously though, I work in IT and it's very scary but these companies make big bucks doing this. Age is probably one of the easiest pieces of data for companies to purchase.
I find this amusing as they apparently know things I really don't. I tell people I break algorithms. They have me in the size bracket completely opposite from what I actually am and an age demographic about 20 or more years beyond where I am now.

I've done a lot of freelance jobs on the Internet that involved posting on forums I wouldn't normally be interested in or researching products so I'm sure they have a totally inaccurate picture of me.

I did find it really interesting that Target figured out a girl was pregnant before her father knew. That must have been a shock when the diaper coupons started arriving!
