The bag is authentic, and it could return to a very nice aspect after a very good/DEEP restoration job.
I am pretty sure Hermes will do it, but my advice would be to directly go to Paris. Don't ask your local store.

This looks like a Kelly Sport, which would be consistent with the stated age. Not wild about the number or quality of the photos, but I don't see any red flags in this.

The SO strap is right at the top of the bag; the Sport attaches about a third of the way down. Resellers don't always get the names/styles/colours/leathers right, alas!
