Please go back to post #513 to read about the effects of baby shampoo.
Thank you very much cvw1004. I guess no more baby shampoo then! Hopefully no more of my scarves will need washed from now on. That is interesting - but makes me wish I hadn't used it on my babies either! Explains their fluffy hair though! 😉😉 I gave the scarf a very good rinse so hopefully it will be ok.

Think the shampoo recommendation may be to remove product stains such as cosmetics. If so, I'd spot clean then wash out the shampoo residue with another delicate cleaner. Sometimes you have to weigh the hazards carefully.

Hello everyone:wave:. I have to admit I'm a Hermes scarf cleaning virgin!!!
I need to start washing a couple scarves myself. My first being a HG of mine
that I recently purchased. It has a smudged area of dirt? Or something.
Would someone point me to the correct post for cleaning this type of stain.
Would I spot clean with gentle shampoo and then wash the whole thing in laundress?
I'm so nervous about this whole process:wtf:.

Here is a picture of the area. Thanks so much for the help & hand holding:flowers:

If I found a mark like that on a scarf, that's probably what i would do (in fact, have done). Just a note, when I have worked on dark marks like that, they don't always come out all the way. I don't know exactly what they are, but they sometimes aren't exactly dirt....

Then if a regular twill, I press it between layers of clean white towel to get the water out, then air dry, or hold it in front of a hair drier on low and let it dry it all over. Should dry quickly....

Recently started using Nature Clean pure-sensitive shampoo. It's done a great job on a vintage scarf with bad makeup stains.

As always use at your own risk especially as I've noticed product ingredients change frequently. Rinse out the shampoo then wash as usual.

Good luck!
