So glad you answered (even though I didn't ask the question) right as I was going to Dallas with a couple of pairs. I am going to try The Cobbler tomorrow. I have been debating between them & Deno's.

I definitely would not recommend Deno's.

I did a number on my white spike pigalle's and took them to the leather spa in nyc. I think they came out great. Here is a before and after pic. I only wore them once.
Oh my goodness!!! What happened to them? I was just looking for a cobbler to do some work on my Au Palace's straps and I think I found a pretty good place in the Leather Spa if they can do this!

The owner does decent work from a technical perspective, but his (and his staff's) customer service skills are deplorable!

I took 3 pairs of CLs, 2 pairs of Choos, and 1 pair of boots in for a variety of needs (e.g. soles, heel tips, a poron insert, and cleaning/polishing). When I picked up my shoes, I went over them very carefully (as anyone would). I noticed there was a nick in the patent heel cup of my CLs, the insole he replaced for me over the poron he added was crooked and wrinkly, and he hadn't wiped off his fingerprints (which was fine on the patent but left black smudges on my white python). When I pointed these things out, the owner and one of his female clerks yelled at me (in front of other customers). They told me the nick in the heel cup and black smudges on the python were my fault because I brought them worn shoes (I can assure they were not in that condition when I dropped them off). I asked him to straighten out the insole and wipe off the python.

Though they did a good enough job, I just wanted to relay my experience with Shoe Savers.
It seems like all cobblers here in Houston are like that. Can you recommend any good independent ones?

I took my Jaws flats to the Shoe Hospital to get half soles put on a couple weeks ago and what do I end up with? Not only were my new soles brown, but they were wood-like. Good work though, but come on. If I bring you red soles, wouldn't you infer to replace them with the red half sole? I am about done with them though as they also ruined a pair of my Sexy's while trying to place a regular size heel tap on the teeny heel and then sanding them down. Both are still there while they 'fix' them.

Also, do not take your shoes to Shoe Hospital to have the insoles replaced. I made the mistake in taking two pairs in, both were very old workhorse shoes, thankfully, and I got back shoes with a grey faux-leather insole that has now made my shoes impossible to wear as they give me blisters on the bottom of my feet.

I am not sure if I am posting this in the right place so please excuse me if it is wrong. I need a good cobbler near Philadelphia that can put Vibram soles on my CL's. I took two pairs of CL's to a local cobbler and what a disaster that turned out to be!! Anyways, I need a cobbler that I can trust to take good care of my new CL's. Can anybody suggest a good cobbler in Langhorne, Yardley, Newtown, Bensalem or Philadelphia?

On the the Louboutin site the under repair my Louboutin they specifically list a leather specialist in my city: Santana Creative. They also have locations in NYC and Atlanta, GA

I've been saying I was going to stop in, so today my lovely Duvettes and I dropped by. They were so nice they offered me a tour. This little gym of a spot is amazing and the place where your shoes get amazing love. He does not use the red VIBRAM sole because he says he has a better product. Santana's has the contract for NM and BG repairs and they handle Saks repairs in my city.

They custom blend polish colors to match your shoes and restore the kid finish, the can reconstruct straps or replace a lost one. He showed me a burnt orange shoe where the client lost an ankle strap, the original appeared to be python, while he could not duplicate the python I watch a staff member sew a beautiful leather strap in an identical color. They were creating two new matching straps based on the original. They can take a purse apart to replace worn leather trim or replace a zipper. They were woking on a Chloe bag...

Back to the CLs: The purpose of the red grip sole is to protect the leather of the shoe. If Santana's applies the red protective to a brand new shoe the red laquer is sanded of to adhere the protective red sole. The sole does not adhere properly to laquer. In cases when the leather has been worn, that portion of the leather sole is cut and replaced and the the red protective sole is applied.

They also sand the leather and re-laquer CLs as long as the laquer is in good condition. He has customers (with more cash than I) who ship shoes to him after 2 or so wears and have the laquer redone....I saw them in action and trust me when I say the bottom of these shoes look brand spanking new. No lines, no brush marks - just fabulously repaired new soles. I almost had a shoegasm!:blushing:

Customers all over the US send their luxe shoes and bags to Santanas for repair. I am having the red protective non skid sole applied to the sole of my shoe and they are getting a good polish.

Services provided by Santana Creative: Sand and re-laquer leather soles, apply non skid protective rubber soles to leather, insole-inside shoe cleaning, leather sole replacement, plus they repair luxury bags too! The best tour/field trip ever!:D

Hey all! has anyone ever tried getting a bigger sized pump fit more snugly? I purchased a pair of pigalle plato 140mm and got the smallest size but I just know that after standing for an hour, i would be able to fit my entire pinky in the back. I tried using a shoe insert but that pushes my foot back, making my forefoor spill over the sides of the shoe. Help! Will leather spa in NYC be able to fix it? Any input is very much appreciated. Thanks!

I would try the one in Philly on City Line Avenue next door to the Acme supermarket. You should call first.
Thanks Wilsom04 for the suggestion. It is so hard to find a cobbler around me to trust with my CL's. The only cobbler for PA that is listed in the resource list is over an hours drive away so I am trying to find one closer to me that I will feel comfortable with doing a good job. The local cobbler I left two pairs of CL's with was horrible!! I could have done a better job putting on the Vibram soles than he did. So frustrating. Anyway thanks again!!

Sorry for not responding sooner, I've been traveling a lot for work!

What a bummer about the insole and heel damage! Hopefully they are able to fix the heel taps appropriately. Based on your experience, I will definitely avoid the Shoe Hospital.

The only other recommended cobbler in the Houston area that I’ve heard good things about is Eli at the Village Cobbler. However, if you read the Yelp reviews those patrons would say otherwise. I was going to take Eli a couple of pairs of shoes for vibrams and new insoles, but haven’t had the time. If you end up trying the Village Cobbler, please share your experience with us. At this point, the only other option I am considering is to ship my shoes to the Santana Creative for all future care.

Hope this helps!!

I second the recommendation for Santana Creative! They are used by the high end stores in ATL....actually, I used to drop off my repairs at Jeffrey ATL as they send out the NC location! But there is now a Santana Creative storefront across from Phipps Plaza in ATL!! I love this location and the manager is fabulous with which to deal!

Shoes are still sent to the NC location but there is no shipping charge for me to pay:)

I spend $50-$60 dollars for the red rubber sole cover and heel taps depending on how worn the toe tip is...

I went to Santana Creative to drop off brand new loubs and they charged me $50.00 for just the rubber sole. I guess their prices went up?

This is regarding Kaner's in Toronto which many recommended here in this forum.

I brought my brand new Louboutin heels here for vibram rubber soles. Everyone at Holt Renfrew told me to come here. I will say that the vibrams were put on fine, so the installation was not the problem.

HOWEVER
1. The actual rubber soles he put on were orange and not red, he painted red over them. As soon as I started wearing them all the paint chipped off and revealed the orange underneath.
2. He painted over THE ENTIRE bottom of the shoe with that red paint. I understand it was to make it blend better but now the entire bottom are a matte dark red. My shoes now look fake.

I would not recommend bringing brand new louboutins here. What he did would've been acceptable on old beat up louboutins that need refreshing, but my brand new shoes?!? I consider them ruined.
