:congrats: on your very first mousseline! This is from Spring/Summer 2020 collection, after they stopped producing mousselines for about a year or so.
How do I wash Mousseline?
Some use a dry cleaner and others wash by hand. They don’t really say how, but there was a mention that the silk could change how it feels. All depends on the particular mousse, near as I can tell. I recently got a mousseline, and I plan to keep it away from food, and hope that it stays clean for a while.
There's an entire thread here dedicated to cleaning Hermès scarves. Here are the posts on cleaning mousselines found within that thread (here and here).

Congratulations! This is so so pretty! I hope you‘LLC share a mod picture either here or on the SOTD thread! The moussie slope is the slipperiest ever, but the most beautiful one!
(this probably won’t be your last moussie! :giggle:)

Thank you. Oh! I didn’t know they stopped. Do you know why?
H isn't the most forthcoming with communication so no official reason was given. Prior to that, there were issues with brand new mousselines with a lot of pulls/snags.
thank you. But I don’t know what other current mousseline choices at the moment?
Mousselines are currently only produced for Spring/Summer collections. :)

Congratulations on your moussie! This pink confection was a lovely delight from spring!

Congratulations on your beautiful new scarf. That is so pretty. I’m sure you will enjoy your new beauty.

I am in the process of reading this thread from the beginning and, after the first 200 pages, I can assure you that the mousseline is surprisingly durable. Be sure to keep it away from cats (they like to pounce on swinging ends), dogs (they have been known to play tug of war with a moussie), and Velcro/zippers/rough jewelry (snags). Most spills apparently will wash out.

Do wear it a lot. Enjoy!!!!!

They are generally hardy. (Hardier than cashmere, but if you do put a run, less fixable than a run in cashmere)

Thank you very much. I didn’t think of the jewelry and zippers but now I know what to be careful of:smile:
How do I wash Mousseline?

I wash mine by hand then iron them dry on silk setting. So far no significant issues to report with that process. I will say it is a lot of fabric to iron, and you have to iron pretty quickly and keep a spritzer handy. But to me they get dirty less easily than silk twill, are easy to spot clean and iron if they do since you don’t have to wash the entire thing to clean a spot, and in general are fairly hardy with just similar precautions to silk twills.

I recently found a few Hermes mousselines on the website of a Southern California importer who normally imports only Italian silks. I saw this scarf on his site new for nearly $250 less than an identical used silk on Ebay (my apologies to the TPFer selling hers), so I pulled the trigger. The owner then happened to telephone me to apologize for FedEx taking an extra day to ship. (I can only figure that his regular clients are more demanding than I am!) Anyhow, the story is that a boutique in Italy recently closed and they found these old Hermes scarves in the drawers. There are a few more remaining, but when they are gone, they are gone. I have purchased several, so let me show you the latest. Quintessence CW04, the fuchsia changeant. My best Changeant so far. The shift from pink to purple, and especially to yellow is quite mesmerizing. I know these moussies have been shown on this thread years ago, but I'm excited to discover this little bit of Hermes treasure.20200904_100837.jpg20200904_102556.jpg20200904_102621.jpg20200904_101050.jpg20200904_151823.jpg20200904_151647.jpg20200904_151748.jpg

Congrats on your Quintessence changeant! It's a beauty for sure! (I had considered that one, but oooh- just could not justify any more expenditures right now...) Enjoy it to the fullest!

Ha, ha, thanks, bunnycat. I was sure I wasn't the first to find these. I would have picked the Q in fuschia/violet/turquoise for sure.

I decided pre-spend my 2021 clothing budget for these. With a Hermes scarf, who will notice if there are old threads underneath?

Congrats! I hope you got the Under the waves. I think it will look smashing on you!!:flowers:
