Hmm knew of his status and didn't tell anyone other than confidants. That is what it sounds like from that TMZ article.
I bet his former fiancé is infected....didn't she have s suicide attempt about 2 or 3 months ago?
Exactly, he's going public because he has to address the issue now that it's being forced or him.
He is not the only person probably who is doing this. Not saying that is justified but just keeping it real.
People need to take ownership of their own sexuality. It's a shame how many people are out here and don't even care about the sexual history of the person that they are screwing with, until they catch a disease that they can't shake.
Also people need to stop trusting what people tell them in regards to their STD / STI histories. You need to make all efforts to protect yourself.

I totally agree with you. So much talent but his arrogance was his downfall.
It is being forced on him, which I think is unfortunate. No one's health status or health situation should be room for public fodder. And I think it's unfortunate and tacky at best that those blind items were allowed to be published.
I could tell it was him from the first time I read the BI. It seemed really obvious.
It's truly awful if he was doing this and not disclosing. We're all responsible for our own decisions and ensuring we make good choices, but its still just awful of someone to know they were positive and not tell. I guess we'll have to leave it up to karma for him...

He's probably known for a very long time. That said, medicine has come a long way. I don't expect his HIV status to move into AIDS. I used to work with someone who has been HIV positive for over 20 years. He is on medication obviously, and the levels of HIV in his system are so low that the virus is undetectable now.
As far as not disclosing, I think it's anyone's responsibility to tell a partner their status. That way the partner can choose to participate or not.

As the "Today" show reports Charlie Sheen will make a personal announcement to the world on Tuesday, and sources claim he'll reveal that he is HIV Positive, a source familiar with the situation tells Access Hollywood that Sheen's ex-wife, DeniseRichards, has known Sheen had the disease for a "number of years."
The source told Access Hollywood that theactor allegedly contracted the disease in the years after he and Richards divorced in2006.
Sheen and Richards have "not been intimate" sincethe divorce, the source added.
The now-ex-couple has two daughters together Sam, 11; andLola, 10.

This is what I thought. I never heard about it from the Sony emails. I heard he might have it because he was the popular guess for that BI. If he did feel pressure because someone was going to expose him that's pretty messed up. Health and sexuality isn't something celebrities should be forced to speak about.

If I saw someone participating in risky behavior--I would probably tell the people he was messing with like "hey--dude has HIV. stay alert."
