I guess it depends on how you see the actor that is going to play a dark character like Christain Grey. Charlie really appears to be far too masculine to play this spoiled billionaire that 50 Shades presents. To each his own in how he sees the character and the actor. Don't think anybody doubts Charlie's abilities as an actor.

I think there's only a really small minority in Charlie's fandom who thought it was a good idea of him to take on this role. And I guess most of those are new fans of his who don't really have yet a handle on how Charlie works and why it was so out of character for him to do this.

Totally agree with you. He would have made a good CG but he is such a talented actor I think this role was beneath him. His movie career is still in its infancy and there are so many good roles for him yet to play.

I agree that this role is out of character for Charlie. He would probably have played the other lead role better. He might feel it is a comedown for him to take second lead, and I would agree with him. I could be wrong but I think he has probably been a lead star longer than TH. Many thought he should do 50 Shades, but he obviously knew more about where it would go for his career. My guess is that Charlie will excel one day as a director. He certainly has a strong opinion of what is a good script and what isn't, and he is accomplished as a writer.
