Gawd, I'm sooo happy!!! That was close to getting ugly. Thank God someone did a reality check with Charlie. Dude, drop that agent who told you to do that! He has not your best interests in mind.

I was trying to give the project the benefit of the doubt but from everything I've heard about it, the books were terrible. I haven't read them though. I can love a trashy/sexy movie just like the next person but not something like this with all this baggage.
I definitely think Charlie is a good actor and could handle a "dark" role. However, this probably isn't the project for him. I wouldn't want it to kill his career just as it's on the upswing.
Please let my baby Alex's name not be dragged into this mess again.

I'll second that. No amount of money should tempt an actor into this s**t.
And yes..please lets not drag Alex's name into it. Personally..once one actor drops out..the role is tainted, secondhand. They'll have trouble getting higher than a C grade actor now.
Hahahaaa, thought the same. Though it could be true. SoA I think shoots until end of October and 50SoG was supposed to start shooting in November. Whatever. I don't have to think about this crap anymore. Thank the lord!

I was laughing harder at the notion of the excuse by the films backers being time to "prepare" for this role...why? Because the character was so deep and rich? Oh those producers need to try harder. Thank Gawd Charlie is fifty shades of free of this mess....
That's the real question, because he knew about his tv schedule going in. I've read that 'inside sources' say that he was just really taken aback at all the media attention, having to hire extra bodyguards and whatnot. Maybe he decided it all was just too much. It's one thing to know its coming, another to experience it. Lots of haters out there too that were not kind.
I'm gutted, it was so exciting when he was cast. Where before I would have been happy with most choices, now it feels sorta ruined.
I wish him the best though, at least I still have my beloved Jax!
The real question is why it took him so long to back out of it. Maybe his manager/pr told him it would be good for career, then finally his better instincts kicked in.
