Chanel Shopping in San Francisco

Alex at SF boutique was the SA who helped me. I liked him. I am on the waitlist for a small classic black lambskin with GHW. I went the day after Christmas when I read about the price increase rumors. I'm number 4 on the waitlist - haven't heard if I moved up or not. Doesn't matter anyways since the price increase already happened. :crybaby:

I called SF NM before the price increase and they didn't have it. When I was in Hawaii a few weeks ago they didn't have it either. :(

I thought I was simply getting older and becoming less “adventurous” but good to hear others share the same concern. I don’t feel safe, from the moment I park my car, I feel like I need to be on high alert. And who wants a shopping experience like that?
Yes, soon as I get in the garage I already look around the area before I park and try to park closer to many will walk by or drive by and walk fast out of the garage... from the garage I head straight to NM or Chanel... I have encountered a few mentally ill but so usually try to avoid going near them. When I walk out with shopping bags I am on higher alert all the way back into my car... so sad SF is now so filthy... DH and I walked around soma last year and it was so bad!! Feces everywhere and homeless people with their belongings out on the sidewalk...again so sad...

I think I behave exactly like you. Walk fast everywhere!

Super sad. Number one reason why I don’t take my kids it’s filthy and unsafe.

I haven't shopped Chanel in a couple years; it seems, though, it might be tough to get back into it with many items being spoken for. Is there a better day to go in the middle of a week to try and catch shipments, or do I just take my chances and look around? I have to travel over an hour to get there, but I guess I might need to not have any expectations.

Good luck, is all I can say. You can't even call a store now to check if they have something. You have to call a call center and 'they call you back within 48 to 72 hours'. Only they don't.

Seriously same! I wanted an update on where I’m at on the waitlist and they never called me back after 72 hours. I had to go to the store to ask.

Only speaking for the small classic flap. I’ve been on the waitlist at the SF stand alone store since end of December. When I checked 2 weeks ago they said they STILL haven’t received any shipments and I’m the same number on the waitlist (unless maybe some VIPs cut the line?).

Thank you both! Maybe I'll take a day to venture out if my hubby wants to make a day trip out of it, but otherwise, I might just have to admire the bags online for awhile.

I have heard about this as well from my SA at NM SF they don’t have any classics in stock... at all... the pandemic has slowed down the production...

That is great to hear! My bff were shopping in Union Square a few weeks ago; first Chanel at NM, then an appointment at the Chanel boutique, after that we headed over to DIOR. As we made our way over we passed several loud, seeming angry homeless men, but as we approached the door of DIOR one of these men was in a full fledged rage; he was pushing a cart over-flowing with his belongings, and items kept falling off, which angered him greatly, and he was cursing loudly and seemed that he could possibly attack a passerby. I grew up in the Bay Area (Oakland), and don’t get panicked easily, but I realized this was a very real possible danger to encounter a mentally ill man in the middle of an angry tirade. But we made it the door of DIOR just in time, but it was locked. A security guard unlocked the door and asked if we had an appointment - we did not, so he informed us we would have to wait outside for a few minutes. I pointed out the angry, raging man approaching us, and asked if we could wait inside, he stuck his head out the door and looked at the man who was approaching, then ducked back in and said “sorry, I am not allowed to do that”. He then shut the door in our faces and locked the door back up. We obviously could not wait by ourselves with the angry, screaming, unstable man, so we quickly left.
Bit it demonstrated the exact opposite of what luxury shopping is supposed to be. I understand the world has changed because of Covid, and occupancy rules have been put in place, but at least at Chanel there is a security guard standing OUTSIDE with you while you wait to be granted entry. Union Square is just not safe. Our last trip there a month before we were stepping over human feces on the street as well as many aggressive and seemingly mentally ill men hanging around. Not a police car in sight at any visit in recent memory.

So I am glad to hear of another Dior option coming.

I think their protocol may be SUPER strict now because of crime, especially the slate of break ins at luxury stores nearby. Here's an example of snatch and grab at YSL. It's absolutely not a good luxury buying experience but I can't say I blame them either. SF has just become a tragic example of failing leadership. I used to live and work in SF... now I won't even take the train in and, after selling my beater car, will definitely not be driving in. Nearly everyone I know has been carjacked or car broken into in downtown - yes, even in the private garages.

No luck it stock just comes in when it does they don’t put it out right away... I try to go midweek mornings and I never had any luck finding anything... maybe go in and do plan something for the day and meet a couple of SA’s one from Neiman’s and one from the stand alone boutique. Connect with them and say how you live far but would love to get something on your wishlist ask for their card and keep in touch with those SA’s... not all of them handout cards anymore... so by asking it shows your interest in buying through them... HTH
