Definitely would be great! Especially cuz it’s ten minutes from me lol why 6 hours to LA though is SF not an option?
Lucky you! I live in SF and upthread I have lamented the SF shopping options. Granted NM is fine but the boutique experience is lacking and I find the stock in the Bay Area to be rather limited :-s i would love it if we had a flagship up here, but unfortunately rodeo drive is a bit more than a day trip.

No but saw the signage last time I was at valley fair in the third week of December. It is exciting for the South Bay
That is great to hear! My bff were shopping in Union Square a few weeks ago; first Chanel at NM, then an appointment at the Chanel boutique, after that we headed over to DIOR. As we made our way over we passed several loud, seeming angry homeless men, but as we approached the door of DIOR one of these men was in a full fledged rage; he was pushing a cart over-flowing with his belongings, and items kept falling off, which angered him greatly, and he was cursing loudly and seemed that he could possibly attack a passerby. I grew up in the Bay Area (Oakland), and don’t get panicked easily, but I realized this was a very real possible danger to encounter a mentally ill man in the middle of an angry tirade. But we made it the door of DIOR just in time, but it was locked. A security guard unlocked the door and asked if we had an appointment - we did not, so he informed us we would have to wait outside for a few minutes. I pointed out the angry, raging man approaching us, and asked if we could wait inside, he stuck his head out the door and looked at the man who was approaching, then ducked back in and said “sorry, I am not allowed to do that”. He then shut the door in our faces and locked the door back up. We obviously could not wait by ourselves with the angry, screaming, unstable man, so we quickly left.
Bit it demonstrated the exact opposite of what luxury shopping is supposed to be. I understand the world has changed because of Covid, and occupancy rules have been put in place, but at least at Chanel there is a security guard standing OUTSIDE with you while you wait to be granted entry. Union Square is just not safe. Our last trip there a month before we were stepping over human feces on the street as well as many aggressive and seemingly mentally ill men hanging around. Not a police car in sight at any visit in recent memory.

So I am glad to hear of another Dior option coming.

I had a similar experience but not as bad last time waiting in line at the Dior store. I don’t like going to SF.

That is horrific. I’m glad you’re safe. Shopping in the union square area has gone down hill the past few years and with the SF stay at home order I have not been there in awhile, when it used to be my fav thing to do from the South Bay. Going to Chanel and and Union square stores was always fun and refreshing from suburbia but it feels so unsafe lately hoping it changes post covid lockdowns.

The safety of shopping in Union Square keeps getting worse and worse with each visit. It is a shame.
I thought I was simply getting older and becoming less “adventurous” but good to hear others share the same concern. I don’t feel safe, from the moment I park my car, I feel like I need to be on high alert. And who wants a shopping experience like that?

Just found this thread and so sad to hear that folks are having bad experience at the SF boutique. I've been a customer there for many years and love my SAs. I know that their inventory is reserved base on customer's VIP status. I have friends who've been on waitlist of Chanel mini forever but was never offered, while I've been offered several times even when I wasn't looking for them. Also, I think inventory is so limited there that I know SAs there who basically who won't take walk-ins at all. My SA told me that majority of their limited/new items are reserved for VIPs only and won't even make it to the store floor.

On the safety part, I definitely agree with others here on the safety around union square, especially now where there are less people. Also I feel like that area has been under construction forever? Wonder when they'll finally finish.

Alex at Chanel SF is super nice and helpful. Quite responsive with the app too. And I think it was already mentioned before on this thread but Paul and Pablo over at NM SF are great too!
Alex is AWESOM

I just got back from shopping at Union Square; I went to pick up a bag at the Neimans Chanel (21P gold mini, I am SO excited to have it) so my BFF and I decided to pop in to the Chanel boutique as well. We didn’t have an appointment, and my usual SA Alex, who is AWESOME, wasn’t working today, but after only a few minutes of waiting, we were helped by a very nice young man named Noah. Everyone was polite and friendly, and Noah was so sweet and helpful. We didn’t end up buying anything, but Noah put us down on a wait list for a couple of items.

All in all, a great experience!
