I would love some advice on care for the classic leather slingbacks! Does anyone use a shaper/insert to keep the leather from creasing? Mine got scrunched a bit in my bag when traveling recently and I’m keen on getting them “uncreased” again. Any recommendations?
I use the original packing for all my better shoes, Chanel inclusive. Works like a charm!

Hi! Prior to COVID, I traveled weekly, so that's a lot of shoes in luggage case.
I put my shoes in the Chanel dust bag and then in my luggage case.

The key to storing shoes in my luggage case is to put them on their side, like how they come in a show box. I do not put them facing up (soles down) as they get squished more that way. Putting them on their side will help with them being squished from the top. I also put the sole of the shoe on the edge of the luggage case (think super size shoe box where the shoes are stored on their side).

When I return from travel, they will always be a bit squished, but no worries. All I do is put my feet in them for a few seconds to get them to puff back up. I then place them on my shoe display rack. I do not use shoes trees.

I used to use shoe trees, but I stopped. For me, I felt that with a shoe tree, the tension of keeping the shoe taut, even if it's slight tension, stretches them ever so slightly and I did not like that (that's how cobblers stretch shoes, via tension). If you don't use any tension, then there is no point to using the shoe tree as it's not even touching the leather.

For me, I find the the best solution has been to:
- Store them on their side in the luggage (the way shoes come on the side in the shoe box). This is the secret sauce in my opinion.
- When you take them out of your luggage, put your feet in them to puff them back up
- Store them normally, no tension shoe trees

That's just me.
By the way, I used to put a sock inside my shoe for travel, and yes, they do not get squished as much. However, since I started to put my feet in the shoe after I took them out of the luggage case when I returned from travel, I stopped doing that. I found this little trick works the best to puff them back up. Leather just puffs right back up. If you feel more comfortable stuffing them with socks, that works too and no harm as there is no "tension." You can tell I am anti-tension on shoe trees.

That's my experience, and I do a lot of travel. My shoes never stay squished. Hope this helps.

Converting to cute flats from now on— here’s some of my latest additions!

@gracekelly— I was reminded of your slingbacks as soon as I saw these- I remembered the beading from your post, but had forgotten the exact shoe style. It worked out for the best, as I can’t wear heels, but can rock the look in ballerinas!

I originally wanted the black T-strap sandals, but these are a step up!

I am loving flat shoes too and now rarely wear heels.
Looking at your style, which I interpret as classic elegant, Chanel now finally has a flat ankle bootie that is a classic simple look.

Most of their ankle boots are super chunky or full of embellishment which is not my style, so I was happy to see this clean and plain version. Just FYI in case you might want to add this to your ever growing "flat shoe" collection!

Congratulations on your new shoes!

Thank you for the recommendation, I will be sure to ask my SA about it. I will admit, I have a pair of chunky embellished boots, but that won’t stop me! Haha. Do you have a pic to share?

Speaking of chunky with embellishment - years ago I bought flat, fleece lined winter boots, suede with no embellishment, very plain and great for winter walking. One to the knee and another shorter above the ankle. (They were not Chanel Sport - by the way, does the sport line still exist? The sport line shoes came in a silver box.)

Anyway, I would love to get new boots, practical, like my old ones (which are still in great shape but winters are long here and I'd like something new) so this is a long-winded way of asking if you're ever seen the more sensible boots that Chanel once made because I have not seen any in years and I keep asking at the stores. We have 3 Chanel stores here yet they only get fancier ones with a chunky heel and not warm.

Did you see these? The heel is still on the chunky side. They are Coco Neige from last year, and have the built in spikes. @Himeji might have more details- she was going to try them. I saw them recently on the stock thread, too.

Oh, they are nice! I might worry about them a bit in slushy weather (even sprayed) because of salt stains but they are closer to what I've been looking for!

Has anyone been able to stretch the toe box of the classic sling back pumps? I bought true to size but my feet are flat so the sides of my toes are always getting blisters from the toe box. I guess I bought the B width when I got them in the Boston store. I would like to try stretching them out to prepare for a wedding in the spring but I have never used anything to stretch them!

Yes, classic/plain boots from Chanel are hard to come by, so I jump on them when they come out. The last classic pair was about two years ago. They were knee high, clean, with only a stitched CC at the toe. I love them. They also had a zipper which I love also for a tall boot.

I used to buy their embellished boots, but I realized I rarely wore them as they were so “logo-y.” It’s simple boots for me now, with just a small logo.

Maybe wait next year and check again.

In the meantime, loafers and socks are cool too!

Thank goodness, I can’t find my size. They are so special. I won’t want to wear them when the weather is bad!

Welcoming my very first pair of Chanel footwear which is the classic sneakers. My hubby gifted me this for Christmas! I couldn’t bear to buy it myself..he said it’s stylish and I did tell him though it’s classic but always hard to get and there was only one pair in my size..it’s sooo beautiful and super comfy (I got broad feet so the front fits well though back alittle loose). I cannot wait to wear it and use it for my holiday in a few months!
