Chanel will fix defects. I had a tiny CC gold logo fall off, and Chanel replaced it for me.
My friend has the Chanel CC crystal earrings, and one of the crystals fell off. Chanel repaired her earrings. Both of these issues occurred within a year of purchase, so the replacement piece was still available. I would think if a crystal falls out 25 years from now, they may not have a replacement. As FYI, for Chanel repairs of bags/shoes, there is a company called Santana Leather that does amazing repairs and gets replacement parts. I think they actually have a repair & drop off inside Bergdorf Goodman which is how good they are. Here is their info for future reference: https://www.santanaleathercare.com/

I don't think the top coat of nail polish will do anything in terms of adding durability. It's just just nail polish and will wear off, so I personally would not do that. If you are really really really worried, you can send it off to add extra "crazy-glue" to the base of the stones as that is what really holds in the stones. For me, I would just leave it and if it ever happens, I am certain you can get it resolved.

Congratulations on your new sandals!
You are the guru for everything I love and am starting to love (like Tiffany’s and now Chanel shoes).

I always appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

I have two pairs of Chanel sling backs that I never wear. The straps keep sliding off! Do you have any suggestions for that?

Also, do you think I should protect the soles of the sandals? It is flat and shiny, and I wonder if I should have a film/coating added to protect it or should wear it as is.

Again, we are shoe twins! I have three of the classic sling backs, and they fit me fine.
It was a big surprise as like you, I usually have problems with sling backs. I think it's because we have skinny ankles, so our heels "stick out" more relative to our small ankles. The back of our ankles curve in more relative to the heel which means we need shorter straps for sling backs (I hope that made sense).

Earlier with my Chanel sling backs (not the classic ones), they all fell off my foot.
I took them to a cobbler and had the strap shortened ever so slightly. It worked great.
Be careful not to over shorten. I did that one time. I was a bit careless and told the cobbler "just shorten a bit, do whatever" and he shortened it too much.:heart: Lessoned learned. I now never say "do whatever" with anything. I am precise in the adjustment I want.

On the soles, I am against messing with the sole. I shared my thoughts on soles above a few posts earlier.
I personally think it looks cheap, similar to putting plastic over a sofa to protect it. Well... it looks like plastic over a sofa, just like it looks like Vibram on a sole.

I put Vibram on the sole of a shoe once, many years ago. My cobbler said it would protect the sole, you can barely see it, blah blah blah. Well, you can see the Vibram. Yes it's thin but you can still see it and especially from the side when you cross your legs.
I wore that shoe once and hated the look. I felt it was no longer a gorgeous beautiful shoe. I tossed that shoe.
Of course, this is just me. There are people who love putting Vibram on their shoe.
It's 100% preference, and I prefer to enjoy my shoe in its original beauty.

As I mentioned in my post above... the irony is, the top of my shoes get beat up first before the sole. Soles are more resilient that you think. My two cents on soles... if a sole ever gets that beat up that I wear a hole in my sole, the top of the shoe will look worn out or stretched out also, so time for a new shoe. Related... I have worn out shoes (the top, never the sole), and one time, I got a wild hair to refurbish the shoe. It was the classic beige ballet. I am glad I did it because it proved to me I would never resole, refurbish. It did not look original.

Back to the soles... for me, I buy shoes/bags for their beauty, and I think adding protective soles ruins the look.

Whew... sorry, that was a long response. I got carried away as I am a big Chanel shoe fan and love my shoes!:heart:

This is just my two cents, and it is completely personal preference. I just wanted to share my thoughts for another point of view.
Hope this was helpful. I think I shall zip it now!:heart:

I have always been the same way. I have never put sole protectors, but the soles of these shoes are just so shiny, I am kind of hesitant to walk outside in them. Ha! They are just so perfect. So comfortable and on trend that I am so sad summer is almost coming to an end. Perhaps I need to plan a trip to the beach to prolong this season!

Thank you for your thoughts re: the sling backs. I think you make a really good point about ankles. I should take them to a cobbler. They are such beautiful and classic shoes, it would be a shame to never wear them!

I love, love, LOVE Chanel shoes. I want more!

Wear them! You will look so chic in them!
Oh... are you also on the VCA Action thread? I think so...
All I can say is Orange Boite! Your toes will look so fabulous with your dad sandals! :hugs:

YES, I saw it. I added it to my list along with the Hunter green one. I have a Chanel nail polish that is similar to Orange Boite I think — Cap Corail.

I love nail polish and I am always looking to add more. I have two Chanel polishes on my wishlist but they’ve been impossible to find and I think they are seasonal. And I want them more now because of my new sandals. Don’t you hate it when that happens?

We are not just twins... we are Siamese twins, joined at the hip!
I had Corail! I loved it, but I love Orange Boite more, so I tossed the Chanel. Corail is gorgeous too, and it's more pinky peachy compared to Orange Boite which is more Dreamsicle orange.

On the Hunter Green, Vert Ecossais, OMG.. I ordered it a few days ago, and it's arriving tomorrow. Twins! :hugs:

Too too funny. The only think I think we differ on so far is our choice of metal. You — WG, and me — YG!

I wonder… the two Chanel nail polish on my list are Rose COQUILLAGE and Sea sea green. Have you tried them? I am always looking to try different polishes, so please send all your recommendations my way!

I hope this isn’t too off topic… nail polishes make your toes look good for sandals!

You can hoard the YG, and I'll hoard the WG.

I have not tried Sea Sea Green, but I tried Rose Coquillage. It was a bit too pale for me as a summer color. For nails, I prefer either super neutral or super bright. Rose Coquillage to me was kind of a wimpy coral peach, and it also had a drop too much of brown in it, so it looked a bit "dirty" if that made sense. At least on me it did. For toes, if you are thinking of Rose Coquillage, try Rose Horizon. It's fabulous. I did a post on that too (Action Thread). It's a beautiful coral; beautiful on fingers and toes!

For Chanel colors, I like Organdi for a neutral, but it is now surpassed by Rose Baltique (this shade is the bomb for me). For a deep red, Rose Puissant is lovely. I used to love that shade, but I stopped wearing deep reds. If you like reds, you might also like Gitane which is a nice orangey red for summer months.

For Hermes colors, my top ones are Rose Baltique, Rose Horizon, Orange Boite, and Violet Byzantin (see Action thread for the first three).

Hope that helps.

Thank you for the description of rose coquillage. You have talked me out of it and now I can finally be at peace about not having found it!!

Hi! You have a great collection! I love pink too! I used to wear my yellow ones often (I got the matching bag), but recently, I am drawn to white, pink, and orange! I have a bright orange pair that is super fun in the summer. By the way, I have red ones too! We are shoe twins!

On black...
All I can say about black is everytime I buy something Chanel black, I think "oh, it's a classic, I must buy it." Then, after the inital excitement of the purchase and wearing it maybe 4-5 times, I am tired of it... boring! It's just a boring black ballet. This is also true of my black Chanel bags which I never wear. So... think about what outfits you will wear with black ballets.

For me, I love color! And...if I am wearing an all black outfit, I love wearing all black with my beige ballets! That beige with black cap toe is such a gorgeous combo!

On the sole, I keep the sole as-is. Why?
Because to me, a ballet is a feminine shoe, and the sole is meant to be feminine and thin. I have seen people who resole their ballets with a rubber sole, and yes, if you look at it from the top view, you would not notice. However, that is not real life. You, and others, see your shoe at an angle, and you see the sole. Plus, you see that "cut" where they put the half sole on, and I think it takes away from the beauty of the original sole, even if the sole is worn. It is no longer one nice piece of leather; it's all chopped up. I travel a lot, so I am always sitting around at airports, people watching. To me, when I see a ballet with a rubber sole, it ruins the look for me. That's just my opinion of course.

Everyone is so afraid of wearing out the sole, but for me...
I have walked miles and miles in my ballets, including harsh walking like the concrete streets of NYC. For me, the leather gets all beat up before the sole. My soles have never had a hole. I buy new ballets because the leather is beat up, or I've worn them so much they are out of shape. I never had to replace a ballet because the sole had a hole.

One thing I do however, is watch the heel and get new heels. I see a lot of shoes with heels that are worn out which is not an attractive look. I regularly check my heels to see if the are getting worn down.

Oh, one more thought... the original heel on the ballet I find a bit slippery as that rubber portion is a stiff rubber. Either that, or I walk funny and my weight is on the heel. If you also find the original heel a bit slippery, just replace it with a new heel. My cobbler has heels that are made in Italy, and the rubber portion is a bit softer. Hence, it doesn't slip as much to me. It's not a big deal, but just FYI in case you notice that.

By the way, do you like royal blue? It's rare color, and it's back now after several years. I have this color and love it. Just FYI...
Don't you find not adding a rubber sole to the whole bottom can get slippery? Walking down an incline in a store on their shiny floors even. A low carpet in a room can be treacherous too.

That's why I always added something, but as you said, it's not as pretty.

Purchased my first pair of heeled slingbacks this past week. Beautiful shoe! Do they stretch much? I’m wondering if the slingback will eventually stretch out with wear. I bought my true size, and they fit well. Not tight, not loose.

I think walking down an incline in any shoe needs some caution.
Except for sneakers and casual "rubber sole" shoes, most standard shoes have leather soles, both men and women. In that sense, Chanel shoes, without the Chanel label, is just another leather sole shoe that millions of people wear. That's my thoughts.
