Does anyone here know if it’s possible to repair Chanel GROSGRAIN shoe tips?

I managed to buy a pair of secondhand slingbacks for 60% off retail and one of the shoes has a serious scuff at the grossgrain shoe tip. I think for the price I wouldn’t mind Because it would happen anyway but seeing that Chanel shoes are so high quality I would think it should be possible for them to replace this bit if I ask them to and paid for it?

While these are classics and always around, tt might be the time of year as the fall/winter collection is arriving. I've had great luck at Saks, maybe give them a ring.

Another idea is to call Chanel customer service, tell them the style number, and they can check the U.S. to see if any Chanel boutique has them in stock. I would think though, your Chanel SA was kind enough to already do that for you, but you never know if there might be one around.

If not, grab them when cruise/spring collection pops back around in a few months.

You'll love the beige/black! Super comfy too! Congrats on your first slingbacks!
Thanks so much for the input. I will try Saks! This will actually be my second pair of slingback. I adore them!

My two tone chanel shoe collection is finally complete! I think I may have an obsession with this colour pairing
These are beautiful! I am like you too... I love this color combo and buy them when I see the ones I like.
One style that has eluded me are tall, knee high, riding boots... beige w/black cap toe. My HG Chanel shoe! Maybe next year... I keep wishing...

Congrats on your beautiful beige shoes!

Gorgeous!! Have you ever had to repair them? I asked 2 posts prior: I got a pair of classic slingbacks in my size for only 330€ Instead of 810€, perfect condition except for serious wear on the grosgrain tip on one of the shoes. Chanel told me they can fix about anything on a shoe, but i know someone on here had a problem with chanel fixing a scuffed heel (pulling the leather back down and hiding it with colour is a basic cobblers to do...)

is there really no one who had to fix a grosgrain bit?

i wonder if it’s worth it to buy new but I think almost 500€ saving is a lot...

Hi there,

I havent had any problems with the grosgrain tips so far. The only pair with grosgrain in my collection are the slingbacks; the other pairs are all made of leather for the tips. It might be worth bringing them in to Chanel to see what they have to say though if you already have the shoes on hand.

Sorry I cant be of more help, hope you enjoy the shoes. The slingbacks are one of my favourites too!

Glad to find a fellow two toned shoe lover :D My SO thinks I am absolutely crazy for buying shoes that look so similar haha. I argue that they are actually very different (in fact they are all different shades of beige too)

Hope you find your holy grail boots in the coming winter collections!

By the way, do you do low heels? I just purchased a pair of beige/black pumps with the new double-pearl heel. The heel height was the lower kitten heel and the toe was rounded. It was post #554 above. Just FYI in case you did not see and might be interested. I purchased them at BG, and I did not see them at Chanel or Saks in NYC. They also had higher heeled versions too. Just FYI to share.

Your photo is so fun!

I don't think you need to go to Chanel. The shoes are not new, so they are not inclined to help. Plus, Chanel "repairs" (unless the item is new or defective) is not really Chanel's focus. My guess is they will most likely tell you to go to a cobbler. Chanel will not replace the black cap toe due to wear and tear. They would have thousands of shoe repairs and that is not their core business. If it were a new shoe that was defective, they would just exchange it for a new shoe.

I would just take it to a cobbler and see what the can do. Grossgrain is tough to make perfect because it is fabric. The upside is that it's black and at the toe, so maybe the cobbler can gently restitch the torn pieces to make it less obvious.

Good luck!

Do you have a photo of how bad it is? Depending on badly it has been damaged, if it is is fraying, that would really annoy me as fraying only gets worse with time.

For me, I would probably purchase a new pair. The person probably sold it as it could not be repaired.
But per my earlier post, I would first take it to a cobbler. Chanel is not magic, all they do is take it to a cobbler as well. You will know what can be done to fix your shoe and then decide what you want to do.

I wish you good luck! The slingback is a beautiful shoe. Maybe just buy a new pair; the style is classic and you can wear it for many seasons.

Thank u!

I have an update: I asked and Chanel DOES repair grosgrain and they told me they can repair ANYTHING on shoes. Literally. They would send them to Paris and I obviously had to pay for all of it but the plus point of handmade shoes is that you can literally take them apart and fix everything. The grosgrain bit is just sewn on, it can be replaced.

i have received the shoes and the grosgrain bit is frayed but they fit so perfectly otherwise and are as new in and outside. I would not want to spend the 810€, and if i waited until I could they are probably 1k :-D (I just got the flats and that’s the maximum I want to spend as I’ve got issues with my leg and am not sure if I can wear the heel a lot anyway)

so I’ve been thinking I’ll keep the pair, wear the heck out of them and if they are my amazing dream shoes and don’t hurt me I’ll get a new pair eventually...

i was wondering though:does anyone find the tip of the heel to be attached with a gap? Lol. I researched and realised - all the pairs I find online, if u zoom in, u can tell they are handmade... the leather of the sole piece going down the heel and the actual plastic heel piece: they don’t always align perfectly. U know what I mean? Not my pics not my shoes :))

I don’t want to/can’t afford a new pair atm... I’ve been thinking I’ll keep the pair, wear the heck out of them and if they are my amazing dream shoes and don’t hurt me I’ll get a new pair eventually...

That's great to hear! I am very surprised they will do this, shocked really, but it's great to hear.
On your heel question, no... none of my Chanel shoes with heels do this. No gap; they are all perfect.
