Hello everyone,

I went to Chanel today to pick up my shoes (and to buy my first chanel bag:heart:). My SA apologized that the shoes came back as "irreparable", and recommended me a local cobbler, and, voilá, he repaired my shoes in under 10 minutes. The tear is barely visible irl. I'm so happy!

I am so happy to hear this, and you cannot even see it!
Looks great!

Congratulations on your new bag!

I just bought these on sale from Nordstrom for $400, but mine is in a silky fabric. How have yours held up? I’m a little worried about the letters on the heels.
It held up pretty well and it’s quite stiff while walking but I like the rubber sole. Don’t worry about the letters on the heels bcoz they are well made and as long as you don’t bump it, you’re ok.

Just got my first slingback 2 weeks ago and so happy. This shoes always took my breath away since the first time I saw it a couple years ago.
Quick question, did you apply the rubber soles for your slingbacks? My SA recommended me to do it, but I like how it looks just the way it is. I don’t think I would mind to get it worn down because it’s a shoes and the soles should get worn out anyway. Thank you in advance!

Hi! I love the sling backs, I am a Chanel shoe lover and only buy Chanel shoes.
For me, I never ruin the sole with a rubber sole. To me, it totally cheapens the shoe. Yes, you do not see it looking down, but oooh... wait until you cross your legs or look at it from the side. I travel a lot, which means I sit at airports a lot. I have seen so many designer shoes that look bad. To me, putting on rubber soles completely looses the effect of owning a designer shoe, it cheapens it.

My attitude is like yours... they are shoes, they will wear out. I buy new pairs when my shoes look old. There is nothing worse fashion-wise than a person who's wearing beat up old designer shoes or shoes resoled (e.g. the look of the sole cut in half). Not chic.

And for what it's worth... I have tons of Chanel and have never worn out a sole. I have messed up the leather top, I have messed up my toe, I have messed up the heel (those darn sidewalk lines!), but I have never worn out the sole. And quite frankly, my guess is if the sole is that worn out, the leather is probably stretched out and the shoe has lost its shape(I see a lot of shapeless stretched out shoes too, mainly flats). Time for a new shoe.

I do maintain my heels which is another pet peeve of mine. Every person walks a bit uneven, so the heel will wear uneven. I have seen people where the heel is total gone. Not a chic look. I check my heels at the end of the season (sandals in summer, boots in winter). and if they worn out, I take them to the cobbler to put on a new heel.

That's me of course. Everyone is different, and I wanted to share my thoughts. You can tell I'm really obsessed with wearing shoes that look nice. Pay attention to your heels!

Congratulations on your slingbacks! You will love them! Super comfy too!

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I don’t really like the way it looks from the side with rubber soles on, that’s why I’m contemplating. Reading your response really made up my mind to not apply the rubber soles. I really love my slingbacks that I wear it at home almost everyday

I have these beauties coming 2-day shipping from Chanel. They are the calf/goat skin version which are way more comfortable in the toe box than the grosgrain/leather version and the last pair in their system from 20C (luckily exactly my size). Will post more pics when they arrive.
