Thank you ! This review is so helpful! I can see exactly your point from the pics you posted! What a relief( I can cross it off my mental list

@tadad , agree 💯 with your initial instinct and @ari  that a boucle jacket is an ideal first piece.

But, I do think the coat and the fit is gorgeous on you as a second piece lol

@880, I also tried the cruise white hoodie. I had the identical issue @flyingfree27, the zip was very high up and I thought it'd be uncomfortable to wear. I also didn't find the fit super flattering, atleast for me since I carry so much weight in the middle of my body. It was a bit clingy but the deal breakers were the zip and that it hit me in the wrong place. It didn't have any CHF!

Question about alterations:

Can I take my RTW purchase to any boutique for free alterations? Is there any limit on time since purchase? Can I re-alter for something that was previously altered at my previous Chanel store within Nordstrom with their tailor?
Also, do people have experiences with alterations at boutique vs Neiman Marcus Chanel for the example?

I met a really nice SA on my trip so I’ve since been buying things remotely. I had another SA earlier last year at a local store within Nordstrom but at some point I really did not vibe with that SA so I stopped purchasing from there.
I do want to alter some of the pieces I recently got so I’m wondering if I can go to my local boutique for that.
However, the closest boutique is one hour away while there are two closer stores from me, one within Neiman, one within Nordstrom.
I want to avoid going to my old store for alterations to avoid the awkwardness (that’s just who I am lol), is boutique better than the NM location and worth 30+ minutes more drive?

I also had something I had altered before, but I’ve since lost 20 lbs and my size has gone down by like 2-3 sizes… can I still have that altered for free?

Thanks!!

I am 5'1" and carry a lot of weight in the mid-section so I almost always have to get items altered. Once I attempted to alter an oversized jacket two sizes and it was extremely difficult process, it was either 3 or 4 fittings and probably my least favorite jacket from a fit perspective. I may have only one or twice since I purchased it in 2021. I've had alterations done at 2 stand-alone boutiques and 1 of the 2 is significantly better than the other. For that complex of an alteration, I'd highly recommend you go to the stand-alone boutique unless you have a known third party seamstress. The benefit of the boutique is that they'll understand the pattern and work with you to get it how you envision. Plus if there's any matching that has to happen with the tweed, for example if it has lines, the boutique seamstress is more likely to know how to make that happen. If it was shortening of sleeves or something basic, one of the department stores would be OK IMO. Good luck!

I purchased a jacket in Europe and had it altered about 8 months later at a Nordy Chanel. It was free but I had to show my original receipt. I think even though a Chanel is inside a department store, they have tailors who are trained specifically for Chanel so I wouldn’t be worried about going there vs a stand alone boutique.

I prefer stand alone as well however I will say that stand alone will be more strict (at least around me) with altering Chanel styles too much. My department store Chanel allows me more freedom, even suggesting I make a small change to the back or front, which the stand alone usually can't do. They are def more strict in adhering to Chanel guidelines at the stand alone. I have very experienced Chanel alterations in my department store bc they have carried Chanel for years and work frequently with Chanel customers. I will say a recent boutique opened in a department store nearby and I still don't trust that their general alterations specialist can handle my Chanel jackets....yet.

Thank you! I was worried about the cling. Some is magically good, and some like this clearly, is not lol  Also, there is such a virtuous wallet feeling when regretfully something doesn’t work out lol; it’s almost like saving money

I’ll share what I know based on personal experience and what my SA shares… but it obviously won’t be the full picture

1. VIC tiering is determined by spend primarily in RTW and FJ. Bags and SLGs do not help your profile.

2. Once you’ve hit a tier, you do not need to keep up an annual spend to maintain it. It’s yours for life (I’m sure this will change as more people move up in tiers, or the tiering ranges will move up).

3. There are multiple tiers. I don’t know how many but privileges evolve accordingly. Early tiers will allow you to be invited to launch day ahead of general crowds (not for every season). Then eventually you are invited for launch/prelaunch every season. Then you may be allowed to reserve launch pieces before pre launch. And then finally they ask if there are any pieces you’d like the boutique to order, usually 24-72 hours after a runway show (no deposit, no obligation to buy).

4. Any store transfers or charge sends have a strict 2 week period before a boutique can request from another boutique. As each boutique has limited buys, they don’t want to release popular pieces to another region. They will often decline releasing a popular piece early on unless you are a VIC in the system and your SA advocates for you. Of course if you’re a super duper VIC and there is a piece you must have and your boutique didn’t order it, boutique director can always call in a favor.

One perk I haven’t had access to, is seeing official look books for off runway commercial pieces, aside from individual boutique buys maybe 2 weeks ahead of launch (only shared in person). I assume this perk exists and is only for VVVICs who get access to look books even before the SAs do

Hope this helps!
As far as I know, in the US, it is based on annual spending for as you said RTW and FJ, maybe accessories but not Bags and SLG. But it gets reviewed annually so the meter resets on 1/1 each year :)

I had the amazing opportunity to see the HC show today, unforgettable experience.View attachment 6123582View attachment 6123583
I was lucky to buy both the coat and pants on sale 😂
You look gorgeous in your sale coat and pants; I adore mixing texture and color and length and volume as you do here ! The show must have been a lovely experience! I am so happy for you
