I have a question about reissues in general - are the majority of them distressed leather?
Were they ever made in caviar or smooth leather (not distressed) ?

I love the look of the reissue, but not so keen on the distressed leather look.

Thanks :)

Hi Marleah, they are made in caviar leather! I'm not sure about smooth leather so perhaps someone else can chime in on that.

Yes, there have been all kind of leather made for the reissues: distressed calf, caviar, patent, lambskin (smooth leather), metallic lamb/calf and more.
However, distressed calfskin is the BEST leather for the reissue and believe me, I wasn't a fan at all when I first started buying Chanel, but after I bought one, I was hooked and have found that the distressed calf is super chic, yet very low to zero maintenance, it combined both worlds of the luxurious look of lambskin and has the durability of caviar (if not better). I highly recommend distressed/aged calfskin! ;)

+1 wasn't a fan either in the beginning but loving it now...gives it a vintage feel yet durable and classy

+1 I was looking for a flap bag in caviar leather days before the price jump in Europe and all that was available was distressed calf and I bought it because of the price. I was doubtful at first if it was a good decision but now I love it! As already mentioned, super low maintenance especially for a girl who isn't always so delicate with their bags like me.
