Hello everyone. I just joined this forum hoping I could get some clarity of mind.
My husband and I were celebrating his birthday in Madrid and he decided to buy me my first Chanel bag as our one year anniversary gift. I was ecstatic and was really excited on our way to the only boutique in the city. Unfortunately the store was fairly cleaned out of any of the classic flaps I was hoping to purchase. Lo and behold the SA brings out from the back a black aged calf reissue 224. Totally wasn't even thinking about a reissue as my first Chanel bag but I fell in love and walked out of the store on cloud 9. Now here is the dilemma and where my heart starts to pound. Since coming back to the states, I'm doing my due diligence (perhaps too late) and reading about Chanel flap bags, styles, color, leather, etc. Many sites mention the serial sticker and with a sinking heart I realize I can't find one in my bag... but almost every website I have come across mentions one. I even called up a local Chanel store and the SA said as long as I have the authenticity card, it is fine. I know this post is semi-ridiculous because I bought a Chanel bag from a Chanel store! But the more I read the more reassurance I feel I need.

So I'm turning to you lovely owners of the reissue 224, shouldby here be a serial sticker and if so where should it be? For reference my authenticity card starts with a 18, so I believe it was made 2013-2014. Thank you for taking time to read my long post!

There is a sticker, they are actually rather tiny and inside which is why you can't find it. Don't worry, if you bought from a boutique it's authentic....

My 224 black distressed calf with ghw is black inside. Not sure about any others. I heard there was an anniversary one made a few years ago, (black distressed ghw) perhaps that one has the red/burgundy interior, but I am not certain. I got mine last year. HTH!

My black 2.55 with GHW has a burgundy lining. I bought it in 2012.

I am confused. I thought all black 2.55 would have burgundy linings, no matter what the hardware is??

Did Chanel change their product specifications recently? I am looking to buy a black 2.55 with RHW but I would love to have it with a burgundy lining.

My understanding is that the permanent lines of 2.55 reissue have burgundy coloured linings: that includes sizes 225, 226 and 227. The 224 is now considered seasonal and has a black lining. I think the 224 did used to be part of the permanent collection and therefore may have had a burgundy lining in the past.

in the past few years (at least from what i have seen) the lining matches the outside color. white bag/white lining, black bag/black lining, red/red, purple/purple, etc.

I agree with that- some of the older 224,were in the classic line and came in black with deep,red lining. In later years they stopped bringing them out as part of the classic line and bring 'seasonal' colours only. Every year they are slightly different, though typically, there is a metallic, gold, or pewter, maybe a navy, black or red. ( different shades)

Oh thank you so much for the explanation! My 2.55 is a small (size 225) so no wonder that it has burgundy lining. Haha. But it's a bummer that the black one doesn't have burgundy lining in size 224. :-(

Thank you for replying :-) Yes, I know that to be true for colours other than black. My purple in size 224 has purple lining and burgundy in size 227 has the same colour inside. It's just now that I know that perhaps the black in the mini size comes with black lining. I hope my dream 227 black with RHW will be lined in burgundy! :-)

Hi there! Sorry for the late response. But as JazzyMac has mentioned above, the 2.55 bags come in sizes 224-227. Size 228 was discontinued some years ago. It was huge, something like 14 inches long! Old pic below:
