I've been stalking for a MINUTE and finally landed with a 226 in RHW, having watched tons of videos, etc., as to size + what fits. The item that really landed a 226 vs 225 are sunglasses, which are a must-carry, & 2 phones, etc. So it arrives, I'm in love, but I'm finding it heavier than I imagined - I think it's the chain! Q for those with both the 225 & 226 --- do you find the 225 much lighter in weight?
I used to own both sizes now only have the 226. I didnt feel like there was a noticeable difference in weight.

Hi all,

With you older reissues, do you see much colour loss on the chain? I’m currently looking at buying one from the 19 series (10 years old?) and there is some colour worn off the chain. Wondering if this is simply to be expected?

Thanks!

Would you be able to post a photo? Yes the gold hard ware from certain years looks almost distressed - as if it was meant for the silver to come through.

I saw this regularly calfskin navy 226 on the secondhand market. What do you think? Is the leather durable and does it look a bit off that it’s not on aged calfskin? View attachment 6106083

I love reissues, they're one of my favorite bags, but I don't love aged calf. I do own one aged calf reissue mini but have several resissues in sheepskin or other non-calf leathers, including a black 2.55 sheepskin chevron w gold hardware, a 2.55 chevron in metallic brown, a 2.55 sheepskin dark gray that almost reads black w shw, a patent reissue mini, a silver metallic calf mini (I think it's calf) and a so black patent mini. I would be surprised if this bag wasn't from the same collection or in that same period of the sheepskin bags I own. This comes down to personal style and preference. If you're concerned about authenticity, that's a different issue. I am accustomed to seeing the reissue in non aged calf since I own several, and the grained calf on those is very sturdy. Having said that, you should get what you love, follow you heart, and if you have any hesitation, hold out. I have found settling generally doesn't work and my mind still thinks about what I really wanted!

Happy New Year to us all! I was just wondering what you decided to do in th we end? Hope you are enjoyed using the bag during the holidays.
Happy New Year to you as well! I was able to go in to see the bag. Sadly, it was more damaged than it appeared online. The stitches holding the inside flap to the back of the back were very stretched, and likely replaced. The leather of the bag was also dryer than expected. I currently have the mini reissue, which I got last year, so I decided to be happy with that one and to save my $$$. I wish the prices hadn’t gone so bananas in boutique, I would have bought one in store. I do toy with the idea, from time to time, of selling other bags to fund a brand new reissue. But, I have to determine if it would be my ride or die going forward, in which case I could justify this plan. I also worry about the super fakes.

Does anyone use conditioner or protector on their aged calfskin? Do you think it's necessary? Thanks!
I do, only on one. a conditioner, not a protector. On my large chain lambskin hobo. I apologize for not knowing its style name. All my other Chanel bags, I do not. However, I may here and there condition the corners of them. That includes my reissues, for those, I generously dab (not rub) conditioner on with my fingertips.
