I think people who would knowingly and purposely buy counterfeit bags would buy counterfeit bags, while those who wouldn't, they simply wouldn't do so, no matter what.

It all boils down to their attitude towards counterfeit bags.

Some people buy counterfeit bags even if they can well afford the authenticatic ones, while others who cannot afford it do it because (whatever their reasons are...).

There are many who simply do not buy counterfeit bags, period. If the price tag of certain bags go beyond their price comfort zone, they simply go without carrying that particular bag.

Omg my jaw dropped when I saw in the Canadian thread that the M/L is $6100 now! I remember my bf buying me one only 5 or 6 years ago from heathrow for about $3k!!! Granted it was already cheaper than the prices back then cause it was duty free but seriously???

I'm sure within 3 years the jumbo will be $10k or something.

I can't imagine 10k for a jumbo. What is Chanel's strategy here? Do they think entering Hermes's price bracket will give them the Hermes caché or enable them to overtake Hermes? I know Chanel is supposed to introduce online shopping fall 2016. Maybe these price increases are intended to temper online shopping demand.

So many posters in PurseForum said they're considering jumping ship to Hermes with these increases. After a while you feel offended.

If Chanel classic will price up like Hermes but they still make good 3-4000$ price range seasonal bags. I think people will still buy it. Just like birkin is 10k but they also have garden party and picotin which 2-3k range.

Same here. I buy Chanel because I like their aesthetic, not because of their "status". I think Hermes has amazing craftsmanship and leather but it's not my style so I won't be "jumping ship because Chanel prices are getting to be Hermes so i might as well just go to Hermes".

However. There is a point where I just can't buy anymore Chanel because the prices are going to be outrageous. I spent the current price of $5500 on a jumbo just this past summer and that is the most I'll ever fork over for a bag. Never again lol, this will be my only classic. I do like the seasonal bags though! So as long as they stay under $4k, I'll be happy [emoji16]
