So we all know that Chanel really globalized their prices due to the euro currency falling low but now it has gone up quite a bit! The currency fell 20% therefore Chanel raised their prices 20%. When Chanel globalized their prices, the currency exchange was 1 Eur = 1.06 USD and now it's 1 Eur = 1.12 USD! I feel like it won't take long for it to go back to its strong point 1 Eur = 1.25-1.35. I can see why Hermes decided not to globalize their prices. They mentioned they didn't want to lose customers since they know the euro currency will go back up! I was really looking forward to my trip this summer to buy some goodies but now I'm just nervous :panic: Please let me know what you think on this! I hope I'm not the only one! and it won't be long til another price increase everywhere else!

PS. I was actually thinking about buying a pristine condition jumbo online, hoping for one that's been made anytime few years back because I heard the current quality of Chanel isn't good, specifically how the leathers feel so much lighter and plastic-y than the ones made say three years ago. Can anyone verify this?

I totally get your point...

Crossing fingers that there won't be an price increase in the US, UK and every other country which wasn't affected by the Chanel price globalization if the Euro gets that strong again...

I hoping that if the Euro is becoming that strong again that Chanel will decrease it's Euro prices :D like they did in some countries in Asia during the price globalization...

I think they will raise all the other prices to match and that's how they will sneak in a global price increase :(

Not to turn this into fx speculation but ECB is pumping more money into euro zone every day so betting euro will go up later this year is essentially betting against ECB's monetary easing. Given the status of euro zone economy, it's bar to see how euro will stay strong. This is why European brands are lowering prices outside of Europe

If you search online...most analysts still expect weak euro and euro usd parity so I'd say you are good
