Any news on increases on the US as of July 1? I'm particularly curious about the lambskin WOC (still $1450?) and Cerf (still $2125)? Some posts I've read said just the classics were going up and some said everything was going up. And some said there was not going to be an increase at all!

I'm going to NY this summer and have saved about £1000 ($2000) for my Classic Jumbo Flap so far, I think in the US, they cost about £1200 ($2400), if I find that it's going to cost more than that, I will be soooo gutted.

I may even settle for medium, I have my heart set on getting my flap this year!

Just today (July 8, 08) spoke to a Saks SA, and visited the Chanel store in NYC, and both confirmed a price increase in early August.

She said all the classic bags (flaps, totes, gst/pst, etc) will go up to 3K..

Can anyone else confirm this?

3K! That's a 40% increase for GST if it's true!

No, caviar's $2650 and lambskin is (I think) $2850

This sounds suspect. Isn't the PST currently something like $1500?

I'm anxious to see if anyone else has heard this.

What really upsets me is that it seems like (with the number and $ amount of price increases) they are trying to make Chanel more exclusive, when they get Emma Watson to be the new face of Chanel. Chanel is marketing to a younger audience and with the amount of price increases even fewer younger girls will be able to afford a Chanel. Under 2k is so much more in reach to save up to then 3k+. While Hermes bags can look kind of silly on young girls there are so many fun and youthful Chanel bags and colors that can truly suit someone of ANY age. It just seems funny that while Chanel markets to a younger audience they are making their prices completely out of reach for them .
