Well I will just see. I really would like a m/l flap, but it is now the price that the jumbo was before November 1. I may go ahead with the e-w flap and the timeless clutch I want. If the price for those items go up again, I will just be happy with the 3 Chanels I have and will move on with other brands I like unless I luck out and get an item on sale.

are we sure it's in february? i just spent an hour in the chanel boutique today and the SAs all told me that the February increase will only affect seasonal/new items. The classics aren't due to increase until May (!! supposedly i wasn't supposed to know that... ) Can more people please stop by their local Chanels and ask...

i am probably gonna call my local chanel tomorrow after classes to see if my reissue is in yet.. and i will ask them about the price increase then too i guess!

My SA said they want the starting point to be $3,000. They want their bags to be more "exclusive".

Chanel's bags are NOT exclusive as proven in this subforum and many others online. Also the retailers, gray market and online auction websites continue to expand their inventory. So much for "exclusivity." :amuse:

Chanel has achieved the goal of the starting point of 3K, however they will need to increase it to more than "a 3K starting point" to be exclusive. Lest we forget 2007 ended with record breaking profits, i.e. more than 4 billion dollars per year.

Ms. Chiquet has NOT reached the desired demographic she and her crack "consumer research team" aspire to in spite of the (soon-to-be 3) price increases of the past year. Sorry Chanel...the handbags are still not exclusive.

Excerpts from an article: January 18, 2007
Chanel's new global CEO, 43-year old Maureen Chiquet is targeting "new wealth" customers. "More and more customers are acquiring wealth at earlier ages," Chiquet says, "defining wealth as a net worth over $1 million." These women have more cutting-edge fashion tastes."...
"Let's not be thinking about how big we can make this," says the new global head of one of the world's paramount--and most secretive--luxury brands, "Chiquet tripled the consumer research budgett. In a meeting held in offices above Chanel's East 57th Street store, she and her team discuss a group they are targeting as a result of research: "new wealth."

* Note the discrepancy above (in bold) comments in the article: Chanel is bigger than ever and Ms. Chiquet has yet to keep their goods exclusive or special....In spite of tripling the consumer research budget and prices increases.

Personally, it's no secret that I never bought into the manipulative niche marketing mantra that Ms. Chiquet espouses.
