I was just in Sloane street yesterday and as Twiggy said, the SA told me they sold out of the green mini in record time right after launch. But I saw a green coco handle (small size) there that was very pretty. Not sure if it’s the same emerald green though.

I was there a year ago and at the New Bond St boutique, they enforced it for the 2 black caviar WOCs I was buying (one for me, one for a friend), so I had to have my roommate purchase the second WOC. When I brought it up at Heathrow when I was leaving, the SA there told me she didn't really care and would still ring me up for more SLGs (cardholder).

...so I think it's boutique/SA dependent and applies to all goods if you're planning on claiming the VAT back or doing another duty free option (ie. Heathrow) - when they quoted the rule at me, it was "Only one bag per passport if you're claiming VAT back". You might be able to get away with it at Harrods since it's in Harrods and you would claim your VAT back through Harrods - but haven't tested it. Would be curious to see if anyone has done this since I'm planning another trip there in the fall.

Thanks so much for your reply! I was alone and the boutique SA (Dion - he was so so nice!) said he could hold a second bag for me and sell it to my husband tomorrow but I bought quite a lot recently so didn’t want to excite the husband anymore with multiple bag purchases. [emoji12] I’m here for another two weeks I may pop into Harrods or Selfridges to try my luck.

Oh that's plenty of time! If anything, I'd go to Selfridges first before Harrods (personally have just had better service there overall, though can't say anything about stock between the two). Good luck! :)

I ended up finding my dream bag (well the one that I’ve been hunting for over a year) in Harrods! Met the nicest SA there too! Turns out they couldn’t sell to me directly as I was past my quota (having just bought a mini on Sloane St boutique) but my husband was able to use his passport to buy it for me. So all worked out in the end! Thank you so much for all your advice @adayjchen I really appreciate it!

Hi - I’m totally new here so I’m sorry if I’m doing this wrong.
I have purchased a Chanel bag online.
I am struggling to find where I can go in person to get the bag authenticated IN LONDON? I don’t want to send photos because the site I bought from already does authentication on photos, I would like someone professional to see it real life. Many thanks for any advice.

Hi - thank you for posting question. I am heading to London for a short trip and realize I would benefit from a Personal Shopper to do some scouting for me at Chanel, LV, pre-loved etc. Know of anyone in London? TYIA!

Could I get the info for the SA’s you met in London? Both boutique and Harrod’s? Thank you!

Sorry I don’t know of any personal shoppers in London but I’ve PM’d you details of my SA at Harrods. He’s the only one who gave me his contact details. Happy shopping!

Im going to London this september. I want to get this straight as im confused on all the shopping and VAT stuff. So if i purchase 1 bag, can i still purchase SLGs from other luxury brands?

Seems each brand has their own specific quotas, etc regarding how much you can purchase when you are getting VAT back.
I'm currently in London and had a shopping day @ Bond Street. I was able to get a classic flap jumbo at Chanel, and then I was able to purchase two bags, 1 SLG and 1 bandeau at LV.

Sorry if I’ve confused you with my post. I was only referring to my Chanel shopping. Chanel seems to be tightening their quota policy and allows only one bag per customer every 2 months. SLG including WOC does not count as a bag so you can get a WOC in addition to a Chanel bag purchase. No quota on accessories (necklaces/brooches etc) or shoes or RTW. This is country-specific so you could buy another bag if you went to a different city eg.Paris

Quota is imposed by the brand (brand specific) so if you wanted to buy other brands, your Chanel purchases would not matter.

VAT back is applicable to all your purchases and does not have “quotas”. But there is a minimum spend to get VAT per store. Most department stores only process a VAT back for you if you have receipts that add up to above £75 for that day. I was in one boutique where you needed to spend £100 for them to do VAT back for me.

HTH!
