Chanel GST to keep or to sell?

I like the look of the GST but agreed with others, it's uncomfortable to wear on the shoulder. Sell if you don't see yourself ever using it. I do think the LV Petite boite chapeau is more versatile.

I would keep it but if you’re not going to use it then I guess the best thing to do is to sell it and use that money towards a bag like the LV that you really would love

I already have the LV bag - I’m not the OP - I have a slightly different dilemma. I purchased the GST from a reputable seller and restorer.

I guess my concern is - if I use it, it will somewhat lower the resale price, so I have a choice to keep it in the new and original condition and hope that it becomes popular and desirable again so I can get the best possible resale price (and also attract buyers who want a bag in new condition), or I can use it and enjoy it and possibly sell it later.

I like the bag. I don’t think it’s that heavy, but if I have a better chance at selling it at a good price point unused then I won’t use it and hold onto it for a year or so.

I know someone that works in the boutique the bag was purchased from. The receipt was in the bag and they were able to check the serial against the receipt number.
That's not "verified by Chanel," nor is it an authentication of the bag. You'd need to get it authenticated to sell it.

They verified that the receipt number was theirs as it reflected in their records, along with the serial in the bag (sighted by staff) and on the receipt. The bag also came with an Entrupy certificate. The staff member that sold the customer that bag is still working in the boutique. The client is a long time and very valued patron who continues to purchase. I’m confident it’s real. The certificate provides more assurance (to a point. I’m aware of their shortfalls, hence the second check).

That aside though - I’d prefer a response to my actual questions.

Not sure if you've tried wearing the bag around the house, put your essentials in it too. The straps then to slide off the shoulder when you're walking. I have some really boney shoulders that supposedly can help to keep the straps stay in place but one of them still slide off quite often since I tend to walk fast. You may not think it's that big of a deal if it just happen once or twice, but when you're out all day it's super annoying to deal with the straps falling off, and the bag starts to feel bulky and heavy.

Asking this again: Is it worth it to keep a GST or sell it for a St. Louis?
I used to wear a lot of chanel bags, and I prefer the St. Louis these days. But they serve different purposes. I use my St. Louis PM as an extra travel bag that I fold in my hand carry in case I want a light tote. if you buy a St. Louis, I would advise examining it in person. While my SL doesn’t have cracked handles, I’ve read that other SLs did.

I had one 2 years ago and sold, rebought this year for £1000 more. If you can afford to keep and store (if you don’t use or occasionally use) I think the £2500 will make more than if sat in a bank account (in my opinion)
