I am in the process of getting rid of the Diorama, Celine phantoms..the trendy pieces
that's why I am looking at the Gst, not sure whether it is in the timeless or trendy category

I go back and forth on the Diorama. I love that its kind of under the radar… but the chain can be loud. What made you decide to sell your Dioramas?

I sold my pst because the style didn’t work for my lifestyle anymore. The straps also never stayed on my shoulder which annoyed me. Keep your gst if you think you will use it. Otherwise I vote for clearing out the closet for more new lovelies.

Sorry for the late reply. I didnt get to check back here until now. The reason I got rid of it was because the color that I had and the chains. I was so random I got both in the metallic microcannage patent leather, one in onyx and one in silver. Big mistake and lesson learned...On the other hand, if it is in neutral calf leather, I might have kept it.

I guess I am in the minority here, but I say keep because I think the GST is a timeless design (Chanel still does big CCs... see this recurring style - the one I’ve linked is from 2020). It has the classic woven chain, quilting, and the CC logo. I personally think it’s a super practical tote bag that they will definitely bring back in the future (at 5x the price...). Even if they don’t, I don’t think this style looks dated, whereas the Medallion tote brings me back to the early 2000s immediately (not that the Medallion isn’t an attractive bag - but it definitely seems like more of a trend bag to me).

ETA: I’ve actually been casually browsing for a GST because I like the style and want to get it at a good price now before Chanel brings it back and the preloved prices skyrocket. Re: LV, agree with above posters that it seems like a definite trend piece (not bad but something you should consider)

I thought the same thing until I bought the bag, had it for a year, used once, hated it. It's about the practicality. It's so heavy and slips off my shoulder the whole time (even when I crisscrossed the straps), and just doesn't hold a lot. The bag alone is soooo heavy already, when you stuff it, it feels like you're carrying a load of bricks on your shoulder. I can't be happier selling that bag to fund a mini rectangular.

I guess I’m on the “outdated” side. This has been a tote bag that I wish I had $$ to purchase back then and am sad that it got discontinued. I guess larger bags are not popular now anymore? $2400 wasn’t bad actually. If you think you no longer need it, better to let it go, right?

I have a white one and I still use it and love it.

If it no longer suits your needs, sell. I bought mine in the good old days when it was around $1800-1900 and loved it when I used totes, but I hadn’t worn it in recent years because it was now too big. I sold it and got back what I paid for it.
just curious, where do you sell your luxury goods? i've been using TRR for a couple of years now, but wanted to see if you had any other suggestions. TIA !!!

I would keep it. I am a huge lover of GSTs, and in today's mini craze, I have thought sbout selling mine (I have 6). I decided to keep them all. Fashion is cyclical, and on trend or not, the GST style is classic Chanel. The mini craze will not last forever as the whole point of fashion is the luxury brands want to sell new pieces and make money. Once minis get completely saturated, totes will come back. Totes are already beginning to come back.

This is a new totel style for Summer 2022...
I personally think the GST looks way better than this new tote.14219B14-5419-46FE-A25D-139BCFEECC6D.jpeg

I’m reviving this thread because I’ve managed to acquire a black caviar GST that has never been used (and still has the plastic on the hardware. It is authentic (verified with Chanel) and it was produced in 2013-2014 as per the serial number.

I don’t know what to do with it now - should I use it (I still think it’s a classic), or should I hold on to it in the original condition and hope the price goes up should it become popular again (by some miracle)?

I have the same dilemma with my GST. I bought mine around 2009 or 2010 and I seldom used it. This was my first and only Chanel. I have been contemplating selling, but there's no way I can afford another Chanel with its crazy prices now.
