Hello everyone, I actually really like my Chanel 22 in brown in M. I've only worn them once so far. After watching two videos about the problems, I took a close look at my bag. It looks like there is a coating on the leather. If this problems are there after one wear, you wonder how they will look after a year. Really very sad. I have contacted my SA and she is looking at the bag. Have any of you already had to complain about your bag? Are they trying to fix it? I don't know how it's supposed to work though. Or did you receive a replacement, voucher or credit?

I did not like this bag at first, but then I tried it on a whim in store. It was surprising super light and comfortable. It gave off a very easy, relaxed, cool-girl/model-off duty vibe from the 90s or early ‘00s style.

When I saw that it was coming in brown for 22A, I bought if after being disappointed with the 19 offered to me in the same color. I have tried it on at home, but have not had a chance to wear it out yet. The two Youtubers who have shared issues with their 22 Bags are making me nervous to use mine, but I’m now outside the return policy and it’s making me nervous to use the bag.

I have the same exact bag as you, and was hoping that some colors might be immune to the issues others are reporting. Are your bag peeling or cracking? I only tried on my bag at home once and lightly cinched in the top, so I’m going to check it when i have a chance next for any wear. If I have any issues, I will do the same as you and contact my CA. please share what your CA responds with or what your resolution is.

I’ll share my experience with my white 22. I love this bag sooo much!!! style, light weight, all my stuff fits in there and easy to use. However mine started peeling/cracking after couple of light wear. I have a black crock embossed Tote for over 2 years, it gets heavy wear but has no issue on leather.
I did contact chanel and they were shocked to see how badly leather or paint is peeling off almost all area of top section of bag: bag was only 3-4 weeks old. They offered me a immediate refund or exchange for another bag.
1) I am not sure what type of leather or paint they used but there seems to be quality issue.
2) maybe the type of bonding method /tanning process lacking quality.

I know lot of people hate this bag but I love this bag and I wish they done a better job with leather/quality of process of painting/paint.
I still want to add few more colors but I think I’m going to wait maybe another season to see if they fix quality issue with leather or the paint process.
Here’s pic my camera was little blurry maybe zoom in to see the damage. It looks worse IRL than it shows on pictures. This issue is pretty much almost everywhere on top part of bag. I might have gotten a bad quality one, who knows.:crybaby:

I was hoping that it would not affect all colors, but yes, the leather is cracking and I also have the peeling. It is really disappointing that the quality was not checked sufficiently. I think the bag is otherwise really great in terms of comfort, but if so much issuses after wearing them once, you can guess how they will look after a long time. I'll wait and see what my SA says, but as much as I like the bag, a replacement is out of the question.

It comforts me that I'm not the only one. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I think the model is really great in terms of style and wearing comfort. Sadly that the quality was not checked sufficiently. Maybe it will be better with the next models. I'll wait and see what my SA says.

Over the years I seen many bags, shoes, RTW that doesn’t have any DNA :graucho:. But 22 has chain with intertwined leather and quilts are also incorporated into this bag. I personally love this bag and will not hesitate to add more colors once they fix the leather/paint issue.

I understand your point and share it, but for me, this time this is too much. It is a shame to couple leather chain and quilts with this (non) shape of bag, the worse is "CHANEL" writing on it... Au secours !! No elegance at all in my opinion but glad for this Maison to have buyers for that !

It looks better in person, was able to admire it in the wild yesterday in Central London. The issues people have encountered though are unacceptable and off putting so it's still a no from me.
