I think is worth the money if you get a lot use. I mean it’s a casual lightweight bag and it’s still leather material. It’s little too expensive for the style , I would probably get if in low $4k price range for small size. But it’s Chanel, price is crazy now Sigh..in term of resale value I don’t think will hold up.not because of caramel color or other colors, it’s simply the style either people love it or hate it. The caramel and black are the two beautiful classic color. For me as long as I enjoy the bag and wear it no need to think about resale .

this bag gives me a feeling that it will not wear well - the leather could get wrinkles easily because it’s such a slouchy bag to begin with. There is no doubt that Chanel will increase the price of this bag in the coming seasons or so. I think this is a bag for Chanel fans who would actually use their bags. If you like the style and this is not your first Chanel bag, or that you want a bag for everyday use, 22 bag is definitely a good option. But I won’t say this is a good starter bag in Chanel. Having that said, my first Chanel bag is actually a vintage diana and I got a 19 bag after that. I am still enjoying your CF-less Chanel journey.

I do like the look of the 22 bag but I am just not sure if I truly like the look on me as I am super petite (around 5 feet tall only!) the strap of the small looks too long whereas the medium is too big on me. Not to mention I like the look of black on the bag but I am just not a black bag kind of person…(not sure if anyone out there has the same problem as I do…)

So interesting to hear your perspective! I have yet to see the bag in person as I do not have a Chanel boutique at my disposal (closest is 5-6 hours away). I really love this bag. I’ve been waiting for the perfect color combo to get it in and hoping to snag one this season. But I am also worried about how the bag will wear as I do plan to [hopefully] reach for this bag more often than the others in my collection.

i am the same height as you and also quite petite. I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing some modshots with the 22 bag, if you have any? I keep going back and forth between wanting a small or medium. I think I might go for the medium as I do prefer the slouchy look more. But all the petite girls I’ve talked to have said that the medium was too big for them.:confused1:

Sigh —- trying to decide which size is best for me and scoring the combo I want this season has been so stressful

You make a very good point! I am absolutely not a fan of the 22, but I just paid close to current price for a 2019 classic flap in denim because it was “worth” it to me wanting a Chanel that would work with my very casual lifestyle. Value is subjective- if you are going to wear it, then it is worth it.
I completely agree with this statement. I find a lot of people asking if Classic Flaps or other Chanel bags, with their high price points, “are worth it” - it’s subjective, and your money, so only you can dictate what something is worth parting with your hard-earned money.

You could be right about the leather on the 22 not wearing well, or at least smoothly. The style naturally lends the leather to crease, especially at the top. The potential for price increases in subsequent seasons is a good motivation for me to assess whether or not I want to purchase this bag in its first few seasons.

I started adding Chanel to my collection in 2019 and have found that most of my bags, whether Classic Flaps, Minis, or Seasonal, are not “everyday” bags. I say most, because I added the 19 last year, and that’s currently my most used Chanel bag and one of my most-used bags in my collection, period. The 22 has been growing on me, so much so that I’m picking one up from 22A to try out. I don’t think it’s going to be as versatile as the 19, but it should definitely be a very easy, more “everyday” bag.

I watched this recently about the Chanel 22 bag. At first I thought the bag was silly because it's just a drawstring bag, but after a few weeks I appreciate that the bag is meant to be casual, like for gym and grocery shopping. However, it seems like even though the design is casual, the material is more fragile. So if the material is easily damaged and will quickly show wear and tear, when can you use this bag?

I thought maybe Romina's bag is cracking because of the metallic leather? So crazy.

Hello,

I saw Romina’s video as well, and I am not worried about my Chanel 22 bag. Romina’s conclusion is that she will wear her bag as usual, and if there is a problem with her bag down the road, there is the five year warranty to fall back-on.

Some people expect “perfection” when it comes to luxury..... when even luxury cannot be perfect. Like anything else, the Chanel 22 bag will endure normal wear and tear especially on the parts it is prone to heavier use, in spite of its price tag. The Chanel 22 bag will age according to how the owner treats the bag. Regardless of it’s simple and humble design, there is no doubt the materials and craftsmanship of the Chanel 22 bag are top notch..... hence it’s brand: Chanel.

Interesting video. I’ve been using my 22 everyday for 10 days straight while traveling. Such an easy bag to use and feels so carefree. I checked my strap areas and I don’t see any damage or cracking. I don’t get what she is saying about the stitching stopping or wrapping. Just meaning that her photo examples couldn’t tell what she was saying. Maybe I need to re watch it.

Love the 22 so far and already want another. Haha.
