I'm getting a caramel medium too! I have a small navy 22, and it's honestly one of my favorite bags. So chic and carefree. I love the "anti-fashion" look of it. My lifestyle is very casual so it fits nicely.

You make a very good point! I am absolutely not a fan of the 22, but I just paid close to current price for a 2019 classic flap in denim because it was “worth” it to me wanting a Chanel that would work with my very casual lifestyle. Value is subjective- if you are going to wear it, then it is worth it.

For those that got the 22, does the medallion hit the chain and make noises when you walk? I returned a seasonal bag because the turn lock made noises and just wanted to make sure. Thank you!

I personally never buy bags because they might hold their value or not. I buy them based on longevity (will I love it in a few years still) and if it's something that fits my personal style.

It's not noisy but I do hear the medallion making a light sound sometimes.

Not for resale, especially in brown shades, no matter how popular caramel is currently.
but I get my value out of cost per wear

Thank you for this informative thread about the Chanel 22 bag. I am grateful for the valuable info posted here. I have to say, I am not proud of my lack of restraint with Chanel. I hate their new policies, price increases, etc..... however my wonderful SA offered me a Blue Metallic Medium Chanel 22 from Metiers D’Art, and I will run to get it tomorrow morning first thing..... I think this bag is perfect for me, especially because the Chanel letters are not so obvious, it’s soft, light and spacious.... I love how discrete it is.... Here the picture my SA sent to me...

The Metiers D’Art collection launched at my local boutique today. I was the first one to enter the store..... lol.... I love love love this bag. And mine is made of coated calfskin, which I think is more durable than lambskin. I also like the way calfskin ages too. I think I will use this bag often, and for many years to come....

Thank you for your honest feedback. After seeing the picture here of the bag in caramel, I decided to go for it. Now wait for her. For me, too, I decided to go for it because it simply goes well with my casual style and I think the color is great.

I have many many caramel and gold (Hermes) bags. I always felt it had staying power. Interesting to hear different perspectives.
