Cartier jewelry/stacks „hurting your image“, why, if so?

As a lot of the ‘luxury brands’ are European based, how do Europeans wear luxury items if showing your wealth is inappropriate? Not being snarky…I’m truly curious.
In Switzerland, it is rare to see people wearing massive engagement rings for example. A 1ct stone is already considered big here. I have 0.6 ct and I notice some looks on my ring already..
The younger crowd likes to show off more but people of my age (45 and above) consider the accumulation of wealth status (logo bags, accumulation of jewelry) not very classy most of the time. In general people here are quite low profile in fact..
It really depends on your work environment and the city where you leave. Geneva is fine for being more blingy for example. I only stack my bracelets when I go there. Otherwise, I wear one at the time.

Me too, but now I feel I should care more than I have? (Co-owner of a boutique law firm)
You have beautiful jewelry and it seems like they are just part of you (love your stacks ) If you have always worn your jewelry this way, just keep going like this. You can always adapt by taking a few pieces off depending where you go or who you meet

I live and work in an area where certain things might be recognized but most of them won’t. I don’t have many luxury items but I know that my LV bags would be recognized, where as my JUC would not.
I tend to not wear things that get recognized only because I don’t want that kind of attention drawn to my self. I am not embarrassed in the least, but I will be starting a new job next week and I would like to get a feel for the new work culture I will be entering before I decide whether or not I want to wear highly recognizable things.

I work in IT and my male colleagues made no secret about spending thousands of euros on gaming PCs and the like. I'm a computer girl but even I wouldn't be able to recognize their worth just upon sight so I doubt they'd recognize the worth of a Cartier stack, simply because they're not into that kind of thing. lol
But since I'm based in Germany, I'd probably never wear a stack anyways, but only one piece at a time. Atleast in my experience and social circle, people don't really wear big jewelry pieces. Even engagement rings aren't that much of a thing here as people usually only wear their wedding ring. Watches are a different category though.

I think, at least in the US, wearing a lot or very flashy luxury goods nowadays says more about your interests/values than your actual wealth. I'm very interested in luxury items but I don't always want certain people around me to know that about me... not that I'm ashamed of it but to me it's like I don't have cat photos at my office desk even though I'm an even bigger fan of cats than I am designers. :) Just a preference for how I want people to "see" me in different situations.

I avoid wearing expensive items at work. Someone I know began to be given lots of "harder" projects because his co-worker told people in the office (their boss included of course) that his wife is a housewife and that they have a big house, they own beautiful cars, and lots of designer items and jewelry. They "knew" that he had no choice but to do all the tasks..and go over and above and beyond always..to keep that kind of lifestyle. The other person I know was a hiring manager for a smaller company. She said her boss "joked" and said to her to make sure that their next hire was a breadwinner and a hard-worker..with lots of financial obligations to ensure that he/she will stay in that job for a longer time! While having luxury items do not always mean you are in debt, it still means you probably have more things to pay for.
But I agree too that a CEO wearing expensive jewelry might seem "normal". So, ranking also needs to be factored in.

I noticed that Sales Associates normally know what it is---and I notice better treatment when they see me wearing it..not sure though if it's purely coincidental!
OMG Yes they definitely do. I was in Neimans few weeks ago buying perfume and the SA saw mine and started really getting animated. Got better samples and everything lol

I don’t know if it’s purely coincidental either but I also get better samples (in quality and in quantity) and more attention when I wear my designer jewelry lol.

with that said, I feel I look more polished when I wear my jewelry because I tend to put more attention to what I am wearing, so maybe it has to do with the fact that I am looking more put together than the fact I am wearing designer jewelry?

No idea lol

I wear my loves 247 casually. I take them off to dress up in my VCA pieces

Yes I noticed that too, SAs thinking you are familiar with expensive things and used to that, so you‘re probably expecting/are used to a certain level of service etc.

I guess being independent and an employer, I haven‘t much thought about what others may think. I also like to think we treat our team well. But around clients I wear suits or blazers so most of my stack is hidden anyway.
