carrying two purses, WHY??

I've noticed the duo purse as I'm walking to my classes.. HATE it with back packs! There are things such as clutches and wristlets or just tuck it in the tote..

I am not a fan of the handbag and old plastic bag look.

I work in Edinburgh and have noticed this too! Some people here even carry three bags - small shoulder bag, one briefcase and a tote or carrier bag!!

But I guess that we are all different and all have different routines.
I have noticed that many women here have those vinyl "Little Brown Bags" for their lunch and water. They're quite cute.

I, at times, did carry two bags.. but that's because my stuff never fit in one bag....

For school I have a large tote that I use that holds my planner, reading books, textbooks, notebooks, etc. I also bring a small, inexpensive purse that holds everything else I need. I usually leave the smaller purse in my hall locker since it won't fit in my tote.

Most girls here carry a large tote or backpack with their purse during school. I don't carry either way, but what I don't get is carrying three purses/totes (which I've seen a few do).

There are lots of reasons to carry two. When I was toting things to the nursing home, that required another bag besides the one I carried every day. You could put work stuff in one, or as another poster said, you take one bag out to lunch, and there's no need to schlep all of the rest. We all need to carry different amounts of stuff at different times, and I really don't see this being any different than a woman carrying a purse AND a briefcase at the same time.
