I worked in London for 15 years and did that :rolleyes: . I am a 'small bag' person and used my bigger tote for my lap top, manuscripts etc. The smaller bag had my money, makeup etc . I left the tote at work for lunch outings etc.

NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOO! It's not just a London thing! I'm in New York and women do it here like crazy!!! I don't get it! Instead of two small bags, just get a nice, larger bag and put EVERYTHING in it, for cryin' out loud! I can see takin' a smaller bag to work to use when you go out to lunch and all you may wanna carry are a wallet and cell phone or something. But, still, you can put the smaller bag in a bigger one or just leave the small one at work. Why hassle with two bags when you can just put it all in one? I really don't get it.

I do it a lot when I travel- If I put my smaller bag in my bigger one it's too hard to get my id, boarding pass out etc. And I put my larger bag with laptop, etc in the upper storage area, and keep the smaller one under the seat!
Also for work I carry a tote bag with files/laptop, etc, and my id badge for work and badge for parking garage in my small bag... again for easy access I keep them separated.

I guess I'll just have to be tacky if it keeps me organized:s

haha.. this is why i just go for larger bags. If I have stuff that I have to carry around, I just throw it into my big bag... ie. gym clothes, lunch, water, etc.

Hmmm...I can see where someone would have a tote for work things, lunch, water bottle, for the commute and then a smaller bag for during the workday. But it looks more streamlined putting the smaller bag into the tote, if it fits.

I've seen this before, too. When someone carries 2 purses as just an everyday thing, I think it looks ridiculous. I think for traveling or for work(with a tote and handbag) looks fine.

I have to say for work I have my small handbag with purse, key, phone in it and then a bigger bag with folders, registers etc. Otherwise I would be continually hunting for my phone or car keys in my big bag. It also means I can just grab my 'work bag' as I leave the house. I have just got a new laptop bag that also doubles as a handbag which means I am down from three to two!

I always carry a backpack and a pochette to school. Its far more convenient to have access to my keys, wallet & cell at hand than it is to stop in the middle of the hallway to flip my backpack around and crouch to get into my bag. Its really annoying.

I think its strange though when I see people carrying two bags that are the same size.

I guess I draw the line when I see people with three bags! Lol, if I'm on my commute to work, and I know that people are taking their work stuff and a smaller bag, it really doesn't bother me. I do it often, usually with one tucked inside the other, but hey, sometimes my tote fills up and I carry them separately. I guess I don't really think its a big deal, I mean, its not like you're walking around shopping with two purses, most people understand that it is for a purpose, if you have a lot to bring to work what else are you supposed to do. I'd rather carry a tote and purse than put my work stuff in a carry on piece of luggage like you see some people do! Now that I think is ridiculous!

This look is HUGE in Sydney... except most women here take it to an evil extreme... They carry a tiny handbag, the size I would carry for evening, and then a bright green Woolworths bag or a bright pink Supre bag (shudder) stuffed full of all the things they actually need!
