Canvas Peeling

I don't think this looks normal for only a month of use. I have used my mono key pouch and mono pochette metis daily (since 2017) and I didn't see this type of wear on my pieces. Mind you, I heavily use my items and I don't baby either one of those items either. I would take in to LV and see what can be done.

Hi Everyone!

I recently purchased a Louis Vuitton Sully MM bag from 2015. Since LV doesn't make this purse anymore, I had to buy a used Sully from Poshmark - I was okay with this as Poshmark authenticates the bag.

My only issue with this bag is that the monogram is peeling! I would expect the monogram to slightly fade, but not peel!

I compared the monogram print from the Sully to my Neverfull Damier (bought directly from an LV store in 2015), and the Neverfull Damier print is much more durable.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can repair the Sully and prevent more peeling in the future? I was thinking about taking the purse to an LV store for repairs. I have the original receipt so that shouldn't be an issue if they ask.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Thank you! :)

I have the pm version of this bag purchased in 2015 from the lv site and it still looks like new with the exception of the patina on the handle and piping. Although it hasn’t been heavily used throughout these years I do use it one or two months at a time when I do use it. I hope mine won’t end up peeling.

Why wouldn't you just return the bag to the seller? Who knows when the stores will open and what if they say there is nothing they can do? I assume poshmark has a 30 day return policy, it could be over 30 days before you can even take it to the store.

They cannot "repair" peeling canvas. It sounds like you are hoping for a store credit because you have receipt? Again, this is all risky. I'd just return to the seller. Otherwise you could be stuck with a bag that will be difficult to resell.

Do you have pictures of that? I’ve never heard of peeling before (I’m not an expert or anything of course). Obviously it’s not the same bag, but I have a pre-date code Sac Plat that my grandmother left to me that basically looks practically new besides the obvious wear on the leather and on the inside. The CAs at the LV at Tyson’s Corner said it was in exceptionally great shape and one gave me his card and said if I was ever interested in selling it to let him know lol. Don’t know if he was on the lookout for himself or a client but it was just funny to me! Anyway, I’m so sorry about the peeling! I would definitely see if it can be repaired in any way, that’s such a bummer!

If the peeling wasn't disclosed in the listing then I would return the bag. They should take the return because the condition was falsely advertised. As others have stated, LV does not repair canvas and it could be well over 30 days before you will be able to take it into the store for an opinion. If you're lucky then LV may offer you a store credit, but as the bag is from 5 years ago and is also preloved, I would not risk missing the return window with Poshmark.

Yes, I’ll try to return the purse to poshmark. I had no idea of the peeling. When I asked the seller about any signs of wear, he said the bag was “like new.” Thank you for the advice!

I uploaded an image of the peeling.
I’ve decided I am going to return the bag out of fear that the peeling will occur all over the bag.

thank you all for your advice!

I agree with return! I hope Poshmark will take care of you! This is something that should have been disclosed to you and would be completely unacceptable to me! Good luck!
