Can you wear a black purse in the Spring/Summer?

Yes, sure...if it's what works best with your wardrobe. Perhaps you could consider switching from solid black leather to a woven leather or black fabric bag for summer to give it a lighter touch.
I don't see why you can't. Black is a classic colour and the seasons shouldn't dictate what you can and can't wear. I often wear my black bag in the spring/summer.
Interesting thread and it looks like my view is in the minority... I don't like to use black bags in the SUMMER, ( though I don't see why you can't if you want to) we get such a short summer season in London that I really like to celebrate it! I use brown as a staple 'neutral' and a pink CHANEL bowler when is really hot or on holiday! ( that or a basket bag) the only exception is ,my CHANEL lamb skin classic which I will take out for some evening functions, no matter the season.

I have resurrected this post as I have recently been selling my bags and replacing them with smaller and "quieter" ones in black. I have noticed that my lighter bags all have corner wear or marks on them and the black ones do not.
I have always worn black trousers in the AW and white in the SS but I am looking to incorporate black bags all year round now. Perhaps a black belt, a black leather bracelet, a black accent in a shoe or even a scrunchie/headscarf with black in it is enough to carry it off.

I am currently carrying an Urban Southern Half Moon Crossbody in gorgeous black leather, and I don’t want to move out of it. It’s super comfortable and I don’t care what color it is or what time of the year…

Not usually. In spring and summer, I prefer to give my brighter bags their moment in the sun (literally)
not often. I will wear light - medium colored neutrals; metallics; or gray or navy instead.

I wear only black bags in summer from BV in Intrecciato leather. The wowen leather gives the bags some "lightness"
All my black bags in Clemence leather, Nappa, etc are sitting in my closet and waiting for autumn/winter.
For me a black bag is to much contrast and looks "heavy" in the bright summer time.
