caannie said:It's not a date code, it's an item (catalogue) number. If that is actually stamped inside the bag then the bag is fake. The seller may just be quoting the item number off of the bar code tag, though, assuming that they don't know what a date code really looks like, or they think it is some kind of serial number.

The first and third number are month, the second and fourth are year. So VI0013 would be made in a French factory in 01/03 (Jan. 2003).
This is helpful to know in regards to authentication, such as all Cherry blossom pieces have a date code ending in 3 because they were all produced in 2003, etc...
