Can epsom be spa'd or refurbished?

My apologies if this has been discussed before; I did a search and couldn't find an answer. My epsom constance looks a bit shiny in the exposed areas. How does spa treatment affect the appearance of epsom? Will it restore the original matte appearance, or is this really gone forever. Thanks in advance.
Did you get the scratches out? Please update us.

Hi all,

I hope you are doing well.

Maybe it is too late to reply, but I felt your question sounded familiar to me regarding Epsom leather.

Months ago, my Kelly Depeches showed two thin marks I gently buffed with my finger. The marks disappeared. However, the rubbing on the leather made that parts shinier.

If you do not really focus, you cannot tell them. But, depending on the light, you can see the shining parts. You will see in the pictures the marks I am referring to.

Can this corrected? I take care of my bags and I hate that shiny marks on my Kelly!

Thank you!

Perhaps post this question to @docride on the Lazarus thread?
Good luck!

Has anyone else with Epsom noticed that it scratches easily? I was using my B30 casually and I noticed on the back there was about a 1” scrape which lifted the surface leather and left pieces that need to be pushed down. I went to a local Hermes who told me they could not fix it but if it gets worse they can try to glue it. Sorry I don’t have a pic at this time.

Yes, this is something Tiana Peri has mentioned in her Youtube videos regarding Epsom vs other leathers for her birkins.
She also said it was something that could not be buffed out like smooth or box leather.

Yes- somehow i only manage to scratch my Epsom bags  And it‘s a little annoying because it can‘t be repaired. I had a scratch on my Kelly handle and the whole handle had to be replaced.

It’s funny because many of the descriptions I read about Epsom say it is “scratch resistant”.
It's scratch resistant until it isn't :noworry:

On the related note, I haven't had issue with my K25 in epsom and I don't think I baby that bag, just twilly on the handle. Hope you'll find a solution to take care of the scratch though.

There could be too great and expectation on Epsom.
You have to be careful that you are comparing like with like.
The casual catch of a fingernail that might mark Box or Barenia, but that might be buffed into the patina, probably won't show on Epsom. However a scratch that is deep enough to damage the surface of Epsom is not the kind of mark that would be smoothed or buffed out of Box.
