I purchased this Calvi duo in store in Europe and the box paper says Bleu Glacier, but tag inside is showing Bleu Zanzibar (also says “demo” on tag not sure what this means). Googling bleu glacier shows pale gray blue, and looks similar to the Zanzibar posted above. Anyone have this happen before, is it just some mixup?

Really strange that they mixed up the boxes. Bleu Glacier looks nothing like Bleu Zanzibar. Also, the sticker says epsom leather, but the calvi is definitely not epsom, its evercolor. I think they may have been displaying one of them and accidentally took the box and put your Calvi into it?

Ah that’s a good point! I think that’s probably what happened. What threw me off was that the bleu glacier sticker colour looks like Zanzibar. I love it, this was the blue I was looking for when I asked for bright blue. Looks like I saved €50 since I was charged epsom price

Hi! I plan on using my calvi as a wallet (primarily card holder) as I don't usually carry cash / change. I'm wondering what type of leather you would recommend... Epsom calfskin? Swift? Madame calfskin? Thanks for you input!!

I may have mentioned this earlier in this thread, but epsom is definitely a very hardy leather for a Calvi. Mine got run over by a car on the street and it looks great years later!

Epsom. If you can get chevre mysore (not chamkila), also great. I have both and they look great despite daily, alternate use (I use calvi duo as a full wallet - bills at the back, cards on back slots, coins in coin compartment). I have pictures in this thread somewhere.

I disagree. I have Chamkila and find it excellent. I had Mysore previously and although it's lovely, not nearly durable enough for a heavily used SLG.

Epsom is hardy for SLGs, but for me the tactile quality of the leather is part of the pleasure.

Of current offerings for durability + tactile satisfaction I like Chamkila and/or Swift (which also happen to be the two I always have on the go). Chamkila is already quite shiny, Swift has a matte-sheen, but will get a bit more sheen with use.

I wonder if batches differ? The chamkila I had was nothing like that: thin, flimsy, bendy. So flimsy that the artisan stamped through it.
My husband has an epsom calvi duo which is also flimsy vs. my epsom which is more robust. I was shocked at how different they are. :shrugs:

I had one of the first chamkila. All I can say is, I've used it every day for everyday, it's years old and it looks like new.

I returned my Epsom. Nothing to do with the quality or colour. I just didn't like it
