Beautiful though they might be. . .

The almost heart attack price is difficult to reconcile.
The differential over 'standard' skins is in the region of x10, whereas that for a bag is more like x3.
With a bag there is a lot more 'handling' involved, larger unblemished skins have to be sourced and matched. In simple terms a Calvi just has to be stamped out with a die, folded and secured with one press-stud fastening.

What is the best entry-level Hermes piece becomes very much the opposite
Totally agree with you. Not sure why the pricing is so drastically different for exotic SLGs. Its literally less materials, less craftsmanship, less time and skill involved

I've mentioned in this thread a few years back that Hermes uses the belly umbilical scar on each of its SLG, so they can really only get one SLG per hide. This basically puts a floor price on anything exotic by Hermes, and this becomes disproportionate for the cheapest items like the Calvi.

If you look at any independent leather maker that makes alligator wallets for $400-800, they usually don't have the scar on their wallets, and have bigger scales. They're using bigger hides and can get multiple wallets per hide.

I saw a toffee porc and swift Calvi with a print on it a few months ago (I think sometime during the summer) but never pulled the trigger. I wonder if Rouge H in Box leather is a thing for a Calvi, I recently found a love for Rouge H box leather items
Yes, it is. Not sure if any are still in production but it exists. @csetcos shared his back here.

And another member @Norm.Core found one from resale.

Good luck hunting! ;)

Saw this special edition Calvi Duo on display in Toronto! It’s blanc swift leather, with “Le Lever” printed design. Thoughts on this design and calvis in swift?

A friend very kindly picked this up for me at H Amsterdam sometime this summer. I’ve used it everyday for several months and have seen no color transfer and the swift leather has held up very well with no obvious scratches. I love bright colored Calvis because they’re easier to find amidst all the other stuff in my bags and the beach scene on this one always strikes a cheerful note on gloomy overcast days.

Wow, very nice friend of yours to gift this to you! That’s actually good to know as I’m hesitant about a white calvi in swift. I also love the design and pop of colour. Do you have a photo of the inside for us to see? I believe it’s just all white, but wanted to see if there’s any wear or creasing? Thanks!

several of my friends are kind enough to let me know if they see any interesting Calvis at various H stores when they travel. But I reimburse them for the Calvis. I don’t expect them to gift me Calvis  Here’s a picture of the interior taken today.

Hi fellow Calvi lovers.

I wanted to share a few of my newly acquired pieces that Santa brought me.

I most only like the rare & exotic leathers and limited edition calvis. Here are mine in Box, Lizard, and 3 limited edition ones in Swift.

Hi Calvi Lovers,

Saw some Calvi drops today on the Canadian website!

- Calvi in Gris Pâle Epsom PHW = $530 CAD
- Calvi Verso in Orange / Céleste Epsom PHW = $530 CAD
- Calvi Verso in Orange / Lime Epsom PHW = $530 CAD

For those wondering, 2023 Calvi in Epsom = $475 CAD. $55 CAD increase, 12% up.

I actually think the Orange / Céleste Verso is very nice but not sure if I really want it, or just bc it’s different as in Verso. Or because we rarely see Verso on the site or in store… I’ll probably leave it for someone who wants it more lol
