I have a Calvi in chèvre bleu paon that I use daily for my credit cards and receipts. I love its' clean lines and pop of color in my bag.
I also have a Bastia in chèvre orange. Perfect for coins and bills folded in half (euros). I also use it everyday.
Both are in chèvre and wear very well. I love how they get more flat and supple with use!

I'd love to see a photo of how the Bastia is used for other objects than coins. It's such a nice piece but I don't use coins.

No photos handy right now, but I use one Bastia to hold folded up Kleenex and another one to hold my USB drive, eye glass cleaning cloth (also pads the USB drive so it doesn't put dents in the chèvre), and Apple ear phones. My SA said one of her customers uses it to hold dental floss picks, and another puts individually wrapped hand wipes in it (says they fit perfectly).

would love to hear views from those of you lucky people who bought both! Any preferences and why?
I have both and love them equally as they serve different purposes.
I use my Calvi for all my cards and my notes and I use a Bastia for coins. I now favour these 2 items instead of a wallet.
In fact i usually have 3 Bastias in my bag at any given time. 1 for coins, I use another as a key pouch so my keys don't scratch the inside of my bag, I carry my jewellery in another if I'm going to the gym before work, or sometimes for earphones, hair elastics, tampons etc etc. In short, they are handy little pouches!
The one thing I will say is that for coins I prefer the Bastia in Epsom as it makes it easier to move the coins from one end to the other. The softer leathers like Evercolour and chevre are best used for other items IMO.
Plus I tend to prefer neutral coloured bags but love the Bastia and Calvi in bright colours.
Anyway, hope this helps!

I have both. My Calvi get daily use and holds my cards and cash. My Bastia sits at home in the closet most of the time because I rarely carry coins. I love Hatsoff1's other uses for the Bastia above, and had never thought to use it for anything like that. I will have to try those!

I have cash and coins in a Bastia and also carry two calvis - one for my transit pass and gift cards, the other for store cards, bus cards, misc. If I need to scale down I skip one of the two calvis.

If only the Bastia was wide enough for a card I could use that for cash/coins/transit, and only 1 Calvi for all the other cards.

Thank you for posting the photo. Nothing ever helps as much as s comparison shot. There are currently over 20 colours to choose from in Bastia- sooo tempting.
I have both.
I had the calvi first and used it for train cards and tickets
then I got the bastia to match
and never having used a coin purse in my life, I do now use it for small change
it will take folded notes but not credit cards

I hope Hermes never stops making the Calvi. It is absolute perfect for me. It holds all my cards and I can fold up bills. Small and discreet. I have it in several colors and leathers. I have tried other small wallets and always go back to my Calvi. The bastia, however, I don't use much. I have a couple of them. I recently purchase a little round LV coin purse and I just love it. So that is what I use for coins.

I think if you can only buy one I'd choose the Calvi, it gives you more utility. I hardly ever use my Bastia because when I do my coins spill out all over the floor......

Own 2 Bastia and 1 Calvi. The former are used for coins (1 for £, the other for €). The latter holds a USB cable to recharge my phone & foreign notes (€ & Swiss francs). Don’t really use it for cards of any sorts.
Apparently, it’s a man’s thing to keep loose change in our trousers ‘ pockets. I (finally) came to realise that I needed some organisation in my life and that getting coin-purses was a good start (haven’t made much progress since though...). I like that they come in a wide range of colours although 2 of mine are rather conservative (black and bleu nuit). The 2nd Bastia is Bleu Zanzibar. I wish I’d got hold of the bicolour ones but never seen them in store in London (haven’t asked recently to be honest).
